Manjaro 0.8.8 installation Guide for Experienced Users
« on: 22. October 2013, 00:10:18 »
New Wiki page on how to use the graphical installer's partitioning abilities: http://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php?title=Graphical_Installation_Guide_for_Experienced_Users_0.8.8

It's been written with the assumption that experienced users know what they are doing. If it is considered too vague or such, then please let me know.

One Question can you choose GPT at the partitioning stage if the DVD has not been booted in uefi mode and if you can does it work?

You can do that with the 0.8.7 live-installer - not sure about Thus. If not, it would be a significant regression!

You would - in principal - do this at the stage where you select your partition table type. I left this out of the guide as I don't know if the installer has been tested properly with this. Unfortunately, my onyl UEFI system is also used for development, so I can't use it for testing purposes!

Hi all,

With the 8.8pre3, the advanced partition of Thus way doesn't work on my 32 bits machine?
I wipe out more than 5 times the setup-running to find out a solution, & it finished with CLI.
Because of my particular multiboot partitioning with three Os + a data partition ??

"Are you enlightened ?"

CLI? What - if anything - is displayed on the screen? Does it say anything about bootable mediums?

Hi,

Sorry, I say again, differently:

After more than 5 attempts with Thus wich disappeared sudainly in the section name, pwd, ect (& with not working "advanced partitioning" just before, I used "along side other Os"), I finally used the installer Text to put Openbox on my HD.

A +

*cough*

Well clearly it's not going to be "advanced" for intermediate and experienced linux users.

In fact, I would be very disappointed if such users didn't stick with the CLI...

Ah. If anything like that happens again, please could you run the installer from the terminal:
Code: [Select]
sudo thus
And post the output of the terminal. Phil has done a couple of updates to the installer for the stable release. I used the updated version, so the issue might have been fixed.

Should people be using gksudo for GUI programs, rather than sudo?

Usually, but it doesn't matter in this instance. Running sudo routinely may end up changing file permissions to root, but then Thus gets deleted at the end of the process anyway...
