Even nicer: Venom (AUR: venom-git)

It's usable, but still at a very basic level of implementation though!

A big plus here is the fact that you don't need to set up anything - not even specifying IPs for the DHT is required.. so very beginner-friendly.

Does this require another service, like Pidgin and Jitsi do? From the website it looks like it doesn't.

No it doesn't. I just tested it here with an Arch box and a Manjaro box and it works just fine. Great implementation there.
What I wonder is; will this be on Windows and Apple too? Those are the people always in need of desperate help so they need this for us to help them :)
In any case I will use it where I can and try to avoid all that other spying stuff.

Even nicer: Venom (AUR: venom-git)

That build seems to be broken here :(

As a side note: for easy secure emailing you can also use https://www.mail1click.com/. effective, simple and secure (I know some of the cryptographers of this company, Seychelles based (completely independent), good online chat support).

To @laikexpert: Ok, it is not entirely free of charge and without limits, for me it is still very good (and free of charge), because after receiving and reading the secured message I delete it (I do the same with sent mails), keeping everything secure to the max.

I havent looked into Tox for a while and wanted to test it now, but when starting it gives me the following error:

Code: [Select]
[netrunjaro@netrunjaro ~]$ tox
tox: error while loading shared libraries: libsodium.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

What to do with this?

Find "libsodium"?
Code: [Select]
whereis libsodium
You may need to download and re-install "Tox".

I dunno  :-\ The only shared library is /usr/share/applications/tox.desktop afaict:
tox.desktop
Code: [Select]
[viking@thomas-pc applications]$ cat tox.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Name=Tox
Comment=FOSS instant messaging application
Exec=tox
Icon=tox
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=Network;
StartupNotify=true
X-GNOME-UsesNotifications=true
X-Desktop-File-Install-Version=0.21
MimeType=x-scheme-handler/irc;x-scheme-handler/ircs;

Maybe it is this one that Tox cannot find? Or maybe libsodiom (the encryption part) is not hooked on correctly.

Tox is in the community repo so this should be treated as a bug I guess.

Thanks! Tox-qt works! So we can use that.
(who needs the Community repo when we have AUR  ;D )
