Salut et merci pour cette version de Manjaro ,

I still have probs with WLAN. I have to restart nm-applet as root to even be able to make settings. Networking then worked eventually in the 64bit version but refused to make a connection in this one. Which is kind of strange. But since at the moment that seems to only affect me, i think it's wise to leave it aside for the moment.

Hi V.,

I tried 10 days ago wicd, maybe it can be a solution. But :

- I dont know why our devs leaved it ;
- at each boot, it asks me for a passwd.

Some news of today :

Some unnecessary time-consuming operations are delayed until they're really needed. So now the startup time of lxqt-panel is decreased by more than half.

Hi,  I just noticed this, and was wondering if this is the "freshest" version available?

I have downloaded manjaro-lxde-qt-0.8.9.1-4-i686.iso and am planning to give it a try, so if you have any suggestions, please post them.

I have some older machines, one is a Dell Inspiron 8100 with 512 mb RAM and Pentium III M, which I think is 32 bit, so I can't run the 64 bit code.

I currently have running on it the openbox edition, LOL, with icewm running instead of slim and openbox, to save memory and get good performance.  Setting that up has taught me that it takes a good bit of time and effort to change so many things like that and I would probably be better off if I could run something as intended rather than needing to change everything to make things run well with such a limited machine.  Perhaps your version is what I needed?

this is not the "freshest" release.

yesterday, lxqt 0.7 has been released. look at the last post in this thread: https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=12993.0

this is the version from a week ago. this is relatively new, but it will not update automatically to the newest version in the future.
i have already tried that - unseccessfully.

Esclapion has to update this (and the 64bit) release to make it compatible with lxqt-desktop-git package from AUR...

Hi,

I'm just working on the 0.7 alpha, the 1st official of lxde-qt. More "Manjaro look" :

Since I already had it downloaded, I did try the 32 bit version from April, but my machine just doesn't have enough memory to run it.  I thought it did look nice, though, and had many configuration options.   I am more a fan of "start button" style desktops, rather than the blank screen look, as I think they are more user friendly.

Thanks for your hard work (or play, if you are like me), and your quick response :)

At least 512 MB necessary, if I remember. It will not use them, but for installation.

Or have enough swap memory.
And not using gui installer but cli installer will help if your graphic card is not good enough.

It made it through the graphical install ok, but wasn't able to run octopi, and after trying it a couple times, I looked at the memory usage, and came to the conclusion that I couldn't easily reduce it down to 70 mb or so with conky, so figured I'm better off staying with my IceWM, which I cobbled onto an openbox version with openbox turned off.

I realize that most people have machines that are faster and with more memory, so I guess it just is what it is, and I'm not asking or expecting anyone to try to make things fit when it the problem is as basic as inadequate memory that can't be increased.
