latest update conflicts with fontconfig-ubuntu, because the Update of the new systemd-sysvcompat need fontconfig. After install fontconfig I got the updates. Installation of fontconfig will remove fontconfig-ubuntu.

I just replaced fontconfig-ubuntu for fontconfig until after the upgrade then switched back.

Yes that works, I report this if some users have problems with it. :)

I'm thinking this tutorial should be included in the manjaro wiki, or even better installed as default. If not by default then a script.

I don't think it will be made default because this method uses the packages from AUR.  Regarding making a script, ill try to do that.

Could this not potentially be included in a future Manjaro release, if the improvement is as great as people say it is? The reason I ask is that I have a FHD screen & to my eyes the fonts look fine. However if they can look better, that's got to be a good thing to include in future. However, I don't want to install them myself, as I'm happy with the way things are currently. Manjaro rocks! R.

It looks better on my PC without the Ubuntu fonts than with.

I prefer not have this font preinstalled, or I need to remove those.

So are you using infinality tweaks at all?

I use the standard installation, with the droid fonts, and its very good for me (with Chromium, not FF). No tweaks.

Here are the screenshots of Ubuntu font rendering taken using Firefox web browser.

Sorry, when I upload images as attachments, the server throws a error.  I tried it multiple times.

@StealthPenguin,
Thank you for posting the links for a comparison.  Very much appreciate the effort.
I was curious as to what difference the specific Ubuntu files included in your method would make, and TBH, very little from what I can see.

Of course this is all subjective, what looks good to me etc...

@Esclapion,
I agree the combination of droid fonts and chromium is quite good, but keep in mind that infinality fonts extend system wide, so text editors, terminals and file managers all benefit from these improvements.
BUT,  it is only an improvement if YOU can see and like the changes.

Thank you both for your answers.

IMO, the Ubuntu fontconf doesn't look good at all. I once accidentally installed and then immediately removed it. Now I'm stuck with everything Ubuntu-look except the web content itself, without which I will reinstall the system completely. Just can't read the web with fatty font rendering.

Thanks vanlong441.
My intention was not to promote the Ubuntu font but to address overall font quality.

Its all personal preference.  If you don't like Ubuntu fonts then its not fair to bash it.
