New Forums?
« on: 13. May 2016, 05:40:01 »
Okay, so I went to go to the new forum and make an account, and apparently, not only is a github account required, but the password base-requirement is too long? Like, seriously, it is a forum account, why do I need a 10 character password. I use the same passowrd for all of my social accounts and I am not going to add a whole new password to the list of accounts I have to memorize (and yes I have every single account name and password memorized, based on whether or not they deviate from my standard) just to make an account for an OS I might not even be using.

You don't have to have a github account. I just signed up without using it.

The password requirements for the new forum are still unnecessarily strict though. My old password is just fine for a simple forum account that will not be being used for anything other than asking the occaisional question.

I can't login to the new forum. I registered with the same users name but I never receive the activation E-mail.
Using the terminal is like installing a hand crank on a modern car and using that hand crank to start the car instead of using the electric starter.

I think this whole 'new forum' thing is a bunch of crap.  Really, Manjaro let their website slide, AGAIN?!

And the old forum information is NOT going to be carried over to the new forum?  I don't think I will be creating a new account, at least not any time soon.

I looked at the new forum.  What's with all the icons all over the place?  It just looks unorganized.

Rant over.

I agree, the old forum is a lot easier to use. Though the new one is probably better for people who login via phone or tablet.
The desktop & other users that use largish screens seem to have been neglected in the design of the new forum software.
This has made me little more than a tourist over there.

Also, the wiki management has become chaotic, as in the old one is not easily viewable due to it not having a valid security
certificate, & the idea of incorporating a new wiki into the new forum will not work as it can't be easily navigated. It will become
an increasingly confusing mess. Unless an actual policy is implemented to move the old wiki onto a new server, where it can
continue to be useful, far more easily navigated & will preserve all of its useful data & allow it to continue to be updated &
added to. Any other option will have Manjaro looking more & more like a mess to the outside world in particular.

What are you All Stick in the Mud Old Foggies doing here still?
Thought I was the only one! :)

Yep mentioning phone/tablet format and that was exactly the 1st thought that popped into this Old Old Head of mine.
Seems time for us old timers to die off as we aren't in the cool and knowing of phone/tablet that rule the world today! :)
As I couldn't text on a phone to save my life. Even my 7" Nook Color can't find comfort in using beyond reading books and a few games like "Angry Birds",Chess,etc..
And fail trying to use it for responding in forums or browsing web sites. Just doesn't seem natural. As I think of a phone as I don't know making phone calls.
