I Take It That NEW Forum is NOIT Quite Ready YET
« on: 12. May 2016, 16:34:31 »
Just tried to "login" on the "nerw" forum, and it tells me invalid id, password, etc.
So I am just guessing here, but I'd say not all users are transfered yet.
Hope there will be some sort of announcement elsewhere to let me know when it isd "SAFE" to try and log in to new forum.
Currently posting this via old forum usin private browse workaround.

Just had to vent a bit.

BTW, I do like the overall appearance of new forum, at least the main page have not looked into it more deeply tho, as I will wait to get into it "officially" once I can log in again.

I had the same problem but thought it was my mistake, it would not be unusual for me to forget a password.

Will we have to create new accounts??

...

User accounts are not being transferred.  Everyone will need to create a new account on the new forums. :)

So, what is going to happen to all of our old posts?
If they are not available and cannot add to them, does this not render the forum kind of useless?
I mean to waste all that info, and community is not right.
I created a "new" account somewhat similar to the old, but it kind of angers me all that time and effort is essentially no longer readily available.

We're working on porting the information over to the new forums, but that will take some time.  In the meantime, the forums here are still available to read, but while everyone is busy trying to make the new forums functional, not much attention will be spent over here.  Please try to be patient, we don't want to lose this valuable information any more than you do!

Yesterday I tried to create an account, I send the verification email several times but I still havent received it (hotmail email)
Besides, that new forum doesnt have the hardware specifications on the left, that is very helpful for everybody.
I think than that forum is lacking many things, hopefully it will become better than this old forum on every aspect.

if you click on the 'avatar' the description pops up. It can contain all your DE/kernel/release details, as well as the first poem you wrote for your elementary school crush.
So please fill up your profile.

as for confirmation mail, check your spam folder, or use an email service that's not run by an "enemy" corporation who's probably spying on you and blocking all linux-related mails.

Yeah, I too also figured out the how and whatever for the profile info. I actually like the formatting better in new forum, makes it look good if done right.

I liked that one.

Yeah but it's ultra annoying -- I've "burnt" 3 email adresse, including my university account, and correspondingly 3 user names and no email has come into no spam folder or otherwise. I find it ridiculous to register a new email account only to be able to log into a new forum.
This has never happened with any other website. *** Correction it worked on my uni account... got the email 15min after registration ***

I too have the same problem with the activation email.
I use GMX.COM and never had problems with any linux related email so where is the problem?

Thanks

Same, don't get confirmation email to gmx.com or mail.com
Is philm correct person to PM him to request manually confirming activation?
