The Continued SLOW Demise of 32-bit
« on: 09. May 2016, 23:06:03 »
Debian announced that with Debian 9 32-bit architecture will require no less than an 686 class CPU for the i386 builds.

http://news.softpedia.com/news/debian-is-dropping-support-for-older-32-bit-hardware-architectures-in-debian-9-503832.shtml

https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2016/05/msg00001.html

Guess, eventually it (32bit) will stop being supported at some point.

It's hard to sustain that belief when the distro that will not even update Xscreensaver starts to abandon 32-bit architecture!

I have a couple of relatively (!) modern netbooks (2008-2009) that have 32 bit Atoms in them and I expect they'll be obsolete before my 2005 era Pentium D - which can run 64 bit software.  :'(
