Firefox and Desktop Theme
« on: 09. May 2016, 22:49:01 »
How do I get the desktop theme that installed with the latest openrc distribution to go away.  The latest firefox upgrade removed firefox-gtk and now has firefox. All my drop downs are now black on black, and my scrollbar is grey on grey, or just invisible It is so frustrating and I can't get any work done.  I need the who configuration to go away.  It needs to go away in gdm, in the filemanagers... everywhere.

It's more likely that your current GTK theme isn't compatible with GTK 3.20. If that's the case you'll need to switch to a different theme until the current one you're using is updated.

I feel your pain personally.

I solved it by going through the terminal and typing yaourt numix, yaourt menda, etc. until I had a pile of themes.

What I'm running right now is:

Settings > Appearance = StylishDark-wps

Settings > Window Manager = Numix-Manjaro

Not perfect, but not day-killing either. Hope it helps.

Any application that uses the GTK toolkit will use a GTK theme. You will need to find out where this configuration is read from when you're using WindowManager as your DE - it's probably $HOME/.gtkrc (or similar).

You can use FirefoxGTK2 from the AUR, that seems to work or try Palemoon which doesn't seem to get messed up when GTK3 gets updated.

That last part is wonderful!  thank you
