Installation stuck
« on: 08. May 2016, 10:52:56 »
I'm new to manjaro.  I tried installing 16.06 KDE version and then for the heck of it, 16.02 cinnamon version both from flash drives on top of an existing ubuntu installation.  For the KDE version I get stuck at "Starting Terminate Plymouth Boot Screen"
For cinnamon I get stuck at "Started Accounts Service"

If I pick non-free for either of them it hangs at "A start job is running for LiveMedia MHWD Script"

I am back on ubuntu for now.. :\

A hardware issue, nothing unusual. If you post inxi -F (need to install inxi) output or s.th. similar from your Ubuntu install, then we here might be able to help you.

I forgot to mention something that's probably relevant.  I have an AMD Kaveri A8-7600 APU...

Boot to live session, run "inxi -Fx" in terminal and paste output here. Use the # button before you paste. This magic command takes care of anything you may forget to mention :)

I just recently installed Manjaro-KDE-16.06 on my AMD APU Laptop, (but on a separate drive) using the Calamares-GUI-Installer, rebooted, then updated the system with "pacman -Syyu", rebooted again, and yes,
I also got that "stop job running....", but it will reboot/shutdown after a minute or so, and it's not really plymouth,...,  it's possibly due more to "systemd" not shutting things down in a timely and quick manner.
 ... somewhat related: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=209434

And, if you're dual-booting with Ubuntu and Manjaro ?, check this out:
 https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=33429.msg273538#msg273538

Also, I wouldn't bother with the initial Live/boot NON-FREE driver install, you're just adding more variables that may go wrong, besides, it's quick and easy to install the NON-FREE gpu drivers later, after you've successfully installed/updated your system completely.

 hope this helps.
