Two issues that I need to sort out.
« on: 02. May 2016, 19:20:32 »
Good evening, Manjaroans!

I have two issues, I've also sent these to a very helpful individual but I think he is offline atm.

1. I cannot creat a partion table on my 3TB disk. It's a strong, solid disk. Pretty new and I've been using old hdd for my operating systems. I can't run tests or anything. And I cannot find specific solutions to it. I just want specific information, very direct and concrete.

2. My software manager isn't working properly.

Some more info about drive you are having an issue with would be nice. Other than "It's a strong, solid disk. Pretty new " which is not exactly "helpful".

Using GParted (your  first pic), go to Devices & select either MBR or GPT,  then click the check mark to make it so. Now you can go ahead and divy it up into whatever.

That's the problem. It doesn't always mount, and it's not accessible when it does mount.
I was going through a learning curve, which I still am and made 5 different file systems on it. Lol.
BAD idea, but I just didn't really understand the mechanics behind partitioning for a linux operating system.
I am  more of a designing engineer rather than the programming one, so I tend to test the limits and such to learn and find new ideas.

It's a seagate barracuda 3TB disk. I've read a little about on seagates website. The 2TB limit, the PT etc.

GParted wants a drive to be visible, but not mounted. Sometimes you have to play with it and your drive to be able to use GParted, but if you persist it will happen. GParted is by far the best GUI-fied partitioning tool. Then, first thing, hit the Device tab.
