depends on which locker you are using. You can set wallpaper for Gnome's gdm lock-screen within the control center > backgrounds
If you are using some other locker, do tell. Our help is as good as your information is.

I'm using Gnome's gdm lock-screen, I don't see anywhere to search for other backgrounds from the control center> backgrounds.

I did that - but when i go to control panel to change backgrounds, they are not seen for the lock screen.   I can change the desktop without issue.

If you want to choose your pictures in settings, the picture should be put into the "XDG_PICTURE_DIR", there is a config file for this path placed in ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs. for example i use XDG_PICTURES_DIR="$HOME/photo", then the pics in this dir can be choosed as wallpaper  ;D

He should already have that by default. @Windowsfree can you show us a screenshot of your settings window - the one where you choose lock-screen wallpaper.

Ok, thanks for the input.  I will attempt to get a screenshot later today and post it.  I used the tweak tool to change it, just seems like it would be more user friendly (at least to me) to be able to change it on the change wallpaper screen.

Thank you again, I will probably post that much later today.

If I right click on an empty area of the desktop I am presented with a menu of which one item is "Change Background", it is here where you can change wallpaper and lock screen settings.
If you are referring to the dark grey login screen, then there is no easy way to change that screen.

So yes, a right then left click is much easier then what you are doing now.  ;)

I am referring to the screen you get when you do your method.  The lock screen only shows a limited number of backgrounds.   I believe it would be great if you could search for other images to use from that screen.  This way you can preview the image also.  I can change it from the Tweak Tool but even after loading several images in the /usr/share/backgrounds/gnome, I don't see them on the screen to change wallpaper or lock screen images.

If you click on Lock Screen you should get a window and at the top you see the word "Pictures", you can click on it and you should be presented with all the loose jpg, png files in the pictures folder as in the following http://paste.opensuse.org/view/raw/77707135 screen shot.
The images in the screen shot can be selected for the lock screen or wallpaper but they have to be in the ~/Pictures folder and not any other folder. If this is not the case for you then you should check on what stevelorenz has pointed out.

sheeze, this took forever to post because the attachment can only be 1024.

I really appreciate the effort. That way will work.  I had my wallpapers inside a folder in the Pictures directory and I could not choose from there.  It seems the files have to be in the Pictures directory.
I wonder if this is something the developers could work on.

Thank you again.

I hope so, I have been wondering about it now for some time though. It seems like a fairly attainable goal in my humble opinion, you know, low hanging fruit.  :)
