I don't know what I did exactly, but I fumbled with the energy settings in the Gigabyte BIOS and that seems to have solved the problem. BTW, I'm using VLC exclusively, already did it in 2010 when I was still on Windoze.
Anyway, thx very much for the good tip.

Glad I could be of assistance :)

Hi,
Im really new to the forum and want to report a problem that happened after the update.
i couldn't log in after the update. When the log-in screen appeared the screen went black after 1 - 2 sec and i could only see the cursor. I couldn't type or move the cursor and had to shutdown via the power button. While the log-in screen was visible i could type without a problem. I downgraded the packages but the problem persists. I tried to deinstall an install again lightdm, light-locker, lightdm-gtk-greeter and lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings. So now i can log in as before but when i see the desktop everything freezes immediately. So i don't know what to do now.

It's a Lenovo E550 laptop and I'm not that much experienced with linux
and sorry for my english. :)

Edit: That's the log from pacman:

I can not update

You cannot update if there are no updates available. Stable update packs are roughly every two weeks, if you have updated since the 15th then you won't see any updates.

At the end of the update, when it shows what is happening, I saw an error about not being able to run systemctl. I saved the install output if it is useful.  But as far as I can tell the system is still working. I use a custom kernel if that matters (I don't think it does) and OpenRC. I know systemctl is a systemd tool so it seems like the problem is OpenRC. Am I wrong to post here about this issue? Only trying to offer this up for your information.

Oh, I have not rebooted yet, I thought I would post this first then try a reboot later.

Flawless update.
But I'm just curious: on XFCE Pamac now has a GTK3-looking interface (unaffected by my custom theme). Is that intended and why is that when all the other applications use GTK2?

Hi,
after this update I cannot connect to the WLAN anymore, trying to connect forever to my modem.

Any idea?

Thanks!

@tblu there have been lots of problems of this type reported on the Arch forum and they seem to be connected to the update of Networkmanager. I would try downgrading Networkmanager from 1.0.12-1 to 1.0.10-2 and see if that helps.

I doubt you're having issues with this particular set of updates given they were released 15th April and we're now on 10th May.
