TLP Trouble, ThinkPad , tp-smapi, tpacpi-bat
« on: 06. April 2016, 14:52:44 »
Good day, I have had some trouble installing some packages, +++ ThinkPad Extended Battery Functions
tp-smapi   = inactive (kernel module 'tp_smapi' not installed)
tpacpi-bat = inactive (kernel module 'acpi_call' not installed)

I get an error when I try other packages as well tlp-pmu 0.8-2  (2016-02-29 22:02)
( Unsupported package: Potentially dangerous ! )
==> Edit PKGBUILD ? [Y/n] ("A" to abort)
==> ------------------------------------
==> n

==> ERROR: Running makepkg as root is not allowed as it can cause permanent,
catastrophic damage to your system.
Unable to read PKGBUILD,

I would like to have tlp running as I do with other distro, Is this possible?

Any tips greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Code: [Select]
$ pacman -Ss tp_smapi
extra/linux310-tp_smapi 0.41-39 (linux310-extramodules)
    Modules for ThinkPad's SMAPI functionality
extra/linux312-tp_smapi 0.41-27 (linux312-extramodules)
    Modules for ThinkPad's SMAPI functionality
extra/linux313-tp_smapi 0.41-23 (linux313-extramodules)
    Modules for ThinkPad's SMAPI functionality
extra/linux314-tp_smapi 0.41-23 (linux314-extramodules)
    Modules for ThinkPad's SMAPI functionality
extra/linux316-tp_smapi 0.41-17 (linux316-extramodules)
    Modules for ThinkPad's SMAPI functionality
extra/linux318-tp_smapi 0.41-16 (linux318-extramodules)
    Modules for ThinkPad's SMAPI functionality
extra/linux319-tp_smapi 0.41-11 (linux319-extramodules)
    Modules for ThinkPad's SMAPI functionality
extra/linux41-tp_smapi 0.41-11 (linux41-extramodules)
    Modules for ThinkPad's SMAPI functionality
extra/linux42-tp_smapi 0.41-7 (linux42-extramodules)
    Modules for ThinkPad's SMAPI functionality
extra/linux43-tp_smapi 0.41-3 (linux43-extramodules)
    Modules for ThinkPad's SMAPI functionality
extra/linux44-tp_smapi 0.41-7 (linux44-extramodules)
    Modules for ThinkPad's SMAPI functionality
extra/linux45-tp_smapi 0.41-2 (linux45-extramodules)
    Modules for ThinkPad's SMAPI functionality
extra/linux46-tp_smapi 0.41-0.2 (linux46-extramodules)
    Modules for ThinkPad's SMAPI functionality

Install the module for your kernel, the default system-installed TLP will have access to all the fancy battery stuff (limiting change range etc.).

Regarding yaourt, the error message is pretty self-explanatory: you don't run it as root (or using sudo). Also be aware that AUR packages are not part of Manjaro, are a good way of breaking your system, and in using them you are more-or-less on your own.

For "acpi_call" open a terminal and enter:
Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -S acpi_call
and choose the one for your kernel

Take a look also in the following link and don't use "sudo" or "su" when running yaourt or makepkg.

"Topic solved" button should be at the bottom of the post list.
