P.S. To echo mandog's comments, Deepin is fairly young and since their switch from an Ubuntu to a Debian base in the parent distro, it is still undergoing very heavy development. Deepin has just now become even usable in Arch and Manjaro, due in large part to oberon's work. And things that are more easily configured in other DE/WMs can be a real S.O.B. in Deepin (just ask oberon), and as you've found out.  Glad you like MATE, my favorite gtk2 DE. :D
