Installation Flash Player 20 on Firefox
« on: 11. March 2016, 16:46:53 »
You can simply use commands:
yaourt -S chromium-pepper-flash
yaourt -S freshplayerplugin

First command installs Flash Player 20 on Manjaro.
Second command installs Firefox plugin.

I've tried this, but it doesn't work for me. Even if I have the plugin activated all of the time, when I go to a flash enabled webpage I just see space instead. Are there any other steps you may be omitting?

You don't need the chromium-pepper-flash if you have not installed the chromium.
So if you want the newer flash for firefox:

Firstly unistall the flash:
Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -R flashplugin

After that, install freshplayerplugin:
Code: [Select]
yaourt -S freshplayerplugin

I'm a new user of linux..and manjaro.
Do I need to make other choices to properly install Flash player?
Also, do I need some additional plugin to make it work?

Of course you need  chromium-pepper-flash the standalone version, in Firefox to use the   as freshplayer is just a wrapper PPAPI-host NPAPI-plugin adapter. The 1st step is to totally remover flashplugin and reboot then install chromium-pepper-flash freshplayerplugin open firefox and enable simple really.

i have firefox and chrome (not chromium, not chromium-pepper-flash) and installing only freshplayerplugin the latest flash running fine on firefox without chromium-pepper-flash.
Try to remove flashplugin, install freshplayerplugin as I mentioned before and if it doesn't work then install chromium-pepper-flash.  :)

I've tried at least a 1/2 dozen times, but can't get it to work. The old flash plugin for Firefox woks without issues. I thought that being able to use pepper flash would be even better since it's still actively developed. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

The steps I take are to 1) uninstall flash. 2) install chromium-pepper-flash 3) install freshplayerplugin. I've even tried reversing the order for steps 2 and 3 with no luck. Every site that I know is flash enabled fail to work or flash test sites tell me I have pepperflash (can tell by the version number) installed, but I get only black or white boxes where the flash animation should render.

Do I need to change the referer so these sites think I'm using chrome? I'm at my wits end, but won't lose any sleep over it since standard flash plugin works, but I'd like to know why this isn't.

If you have installed the google-chrome then you don't need to install the chromium-pepper-flash but if you have not the google-chrome then you need to install it.

are you sure you don't have a flash block plugin enabled?

why not try pipelight?
