I can't think of anything more fun than taking a blank slate, stocking it with only what is necessary, then making it look great. Or at least, nice to my eyes. :D

I'm here after months of raw Openbox so nah, looks pretty good to me. It's also the first distro that works out of the box on my machine besides Ubuntu (but that one sucked for other obvious reasons).

I wouldn't go so far as to call it ugly.
Plain and unimpessive definitely though.

It looked absolutely fine until they introduced the new Maia themes.

I speak as a person who, if asked his favourite colour, would always reply "Green" until I saw the shade of green that these themes use. It takes real effort to produce a shade of that colour that makes me want to throw up. It lasted 30 seconds on my desktop before it got consigned to oblivion.

Not only that, but the icons look like the sort you would find on a cheap child's mobile phone they would be likely to sell in Toys R Us.
