manjaro-mate-15.12-i686.iso - something goes wrong ?
« on: 08. February 2016, 16:01:39 »
Hello there. First I need to say the manjaro  is the best linux distribution and mate edition look fucking briliant I using it all the time. But i installed manjaro-mate-15.12-i686.iso and it's  slower a lot than upgraded manjaro-xfce-minimal-16.06-dev-i686.iso with installed mate desktop environment.

Look here on the screen:

it's manjaro-xfce-minimal and on the screen I have opened firefox, chromium, xnoise, photoshop cc on wine, at the moment compilation of brave-browser-git and few small aplication it works pretty good, but when I worked on manjaro-mate-15.12-i686 it was horrible because with opened photoshop, chromium, deeadbeef I could not work it's freezen so that I could not turn off the chromium.

which pkg I need to remove to have the same effect of responsively and affect memory free ?

Is it possible to make mate minimal live iso with the same look ?

Sory for my english

Regards ! Thanks for good job !

There are budgie-minimal, kde-minimal, lxqt-minimal, net-minimal and xfce-minimal.

I think your question doesn't have a definitive answer. Try removing everything you don't need. But rather than removing packages which usually don't require resources when you don't launch them, take a look at startup processes and deactivate those which you don't need.

just feeling i was thinking of the audio plugins you have an how they are interacting with the browsers ... Wine relies on dsst-vst ..ladspa ... and jack .... Chromium has inbuilt media codecs ...so maybe could be some fight for resources thats causing critical memory leaks  ... do you have the same freezing issues without browsers open?
Wish i could think of a soundcard diagnostic display ... but nothing comes to mind at the moment.

PS . im trying t get my head around what contained in your Waves plug-ins http://www.waves.com/plugins ... you are running FL Studio in Wine too ? which processor do you have ?

[2016-02-10 20:41] [ALPM] removed bluez (5.36-1.1)
[2016-02-10 20:41] [ALPM] removed hplip (3.15.11-2)
[2016-02-10 20:41] [ALPM] removed foomatic-db-engine (3:20151108-1)
[2016-02-10 20:41] [ALPM] removed cups-filters (1.5.0-2)
[2016-02-10 20:41] [ALPM] removed mate-user-guide (1.12.0-1)
[2016-02-10 20:41] [ALPM] removed cups-pk-helper (0.2.5-1)

How much ram have you got installed, Most of what you have removed has nothing to do with resources if they are not running

It's 2Gb.

Yes, you right but still I can do less operation than previously. That's a reason why I asked what I can remove. You know I can't to check what Was previously because it's formated and fresh installed. I tried to run net-install but I cant't to create two particion's without label and NEXT button was unactive. I think the best option is to check what new packages was added.

But thanks for all you wrote something.

Hi aras ...
Other from the RAM issue, mandog brought up ...
And before getting into a quagmire of Actionscript and Plugin architecture conflicts that might be occuring ..
The only other quick and easy suggestion i could make is just 'lock down' FL Studio and Photoshop in Wine ... bar all settings that try to make a connection to the internet (their attempts to 'phone home' will cause issues, even if you are offline) ... and keep any connectivity restricted to the Linux userspace.

Best of luck ... you have certainly tempted me to install Wine and run AVmedia files just see the dynamics ... the one and only time ive ever used Wine was to transfer jet.files ... i just transitioned to Linux and never looked back ... im not evangelistic though ... and whatever setup other people have, its the right one for them :)

Keep in touch,i have a similar Core Duo ... be interested to see if i can replicate your issues

Thx for reply. My point is it's the same project on photoshop, the same version of photoshop and the same version of wine. My question is why on manjaro-mate-15.12-i686.iso the oportunity is to run three the same aplication and on manjaro xfce-minimal-16.06-dev-i686.iso with instlled mate I can run three more and it's the same memory status.
