Budgie logs out immediately.
« on: 08. February 2016, 12:59:11 »
Hey guys. Hopefully someone can help with this.
I have dowloaded the Manjaro budgie iso and put it on a usb stick with unetbootin.  The system boots, but doesn't auto-login, falling back to the login screen. When I try to login, the desktop appears briefly then goes back to the login screen.
The .Xsession-errors shows a whole bunch of new Files miner errors, but other than that I can't find anything wrong.
I don't have access to a wired connection, only Wi-Fi but can't quite work out how to connect via command line.  I tried the solution mentioned here on another post of removing the evopop-gtk-themes but this didn't work either.

Someone help, please.

Have you already installed or are you writing about the live session?

I haven't installed it yet, I wanted to see what it was like first.

Ok, the I must tell you a sad thing that Unetbootin is a bad option for creating a bootable USB stick for Manjaro, see here: https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php?title=Burn_an_ISO_File
Try a different option, please. Sorry!

I don't guarantee that the same issue won' happen if you burn the stick with dd command. I had a similar issue with a different ISO, but not with Budgie. So it could be s.th. else.

You have an NVIDIA NV34 GeForce FX 5200. I don't know whether Budgie ISO has non-free drivers boot option. I don't have any experience with Nvidia. I hope others can help further.

It does indeed have a non-free drivers option, but all that gives me is a black screen. And no access to tty.

Maybe choose non-free drivers but enter nomodeset modprobe.blacklist=nouveaufb into the text field before hitting Enter.

Well, that still gave me a black screen, but I had access to tty again.

Hi .. strange error .. in this iso not included the closed driver , only free .. i not experience with nvidia because my pc is an hybrid intel/amd gpu .. but you have try  to start the iso with vesa driver ? At the boot stop the countdown ( move arrow ) and type
Code: [Select]
xdriver=vesathen enter .. now the system boot with universal vesa driver ...

Ste74 you are a genius. Now, how do I make that permanent when I install it on the hard-drive?
