I'm using minimalistic settings. No history, no menubar, no statusbar, no bookmarks toolbar, only navigation toolbar, search field, bookmarks menu, tabs on top.
Startpage is about:newtab. I populate it and then turn the history off.
Sometimes I turn off "automaticaly load pictures".

Mine is something like that:
- Tabs on top (with menu bar 'hidden' on it)
- No bookmarks bar, to save some pixels (but this I think is not good to a default set, because a bookmark bar could display some important sites to the distro: Manjaro, Forum, Wiki, maybe Arch Wiki, JWM, Linux Foundation and so on...)

- Settings:
  - Do no track flag
  - "Insert related tabs next to the current one"
  - No auto/smooth scroll (doesnt play well with my videocard)

- Extensions:
  - No extensions automatic updates
  - ABL (with some aditional filters: EasyPrivacy, Adblock Warning Removal List, Fanboy's Annoyance List, all found here: https://easylist.adblockplus.org/en/ )
  - Noscript
  - Ghostery
  - Google Privacy (as you can see, I care a lot with privacy)
  - Used to use Https Everywhere, but dropped because it makes the browser pretty slow.
  - Flashblock
(Edit:) - Ah, Xclear, tiny nice function.

Dictionaries:
 - pt_BR (the bigger one)
 - en_US (the smaller one)

- And 99% of time only DuckDuckGo (0,9% I try Yahoo, only if everywhere fails, I use google)

Sometimes:
 - I play around with Stylish and dark themes
 - Videodownloader helper, to grab some music mainly (or that fine cli tool, youtube-dl).
 - Greasemonkey, but rarely, actually.

Also I always use a nice trick: I dont watch videos (or listen to music) in YT, I copy the links and play them in SMPlayer (or VLC).

*

And I liked to make this list, hope someone can find it useful, I guess I'm gonna clone it to my blog.
