USB creator boot problem with unetbootin
« on: 20. January 2016, 14:00:37 »
Hi, folks, i'm a new user of manjaro and seriously i love this distro, wow nice work i dont come back on ubuntu ha ha ha :). I'm a old user of debian "not a pro jsut a homeuser" and i have the same problem with manjaro for create a usb or boot with unetbootin or other soft than ubuntu or manjaro. The problem is syslinux 6.03 after the creation of my usb key when i boot on my usb key i have this message

"SYSLINUX 6.03 EDD 20150813 Copyright (c) 1994-2014 H. Peter Anvin et al

Boot Error"

I had solved my problem with my ubuntu with this lauchpad "https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usb-creator/+bug/1499746" forced the install of this package with this command "sudo dpkg --force-all -i syslinux_6.03+dfsg-5ubuntu1_amd64.deb" and the package is here "http://packages.ubuntu.com/vivid/amd64/syslinux/download"

i cant find the same solution on Manjaro maybe sombody can help me

P.S. Seriously sorry for my bad english it's not my language of evryday :(

Unetbootin isn't supported by Manjaro. Full stop.

Learn how to use cli dd and you may not have any more problems. (example)sudo dd if=//home/winston/Downloads/gparted-live-0.24.0-2-i586.iso of=/dev/sdb bs=4M; sync. Of course substitute your own home path and device path. There are many examples of how to use dd. Read disk cloning on the archwiki.

Hi,
Although I did not had any problem with Unetbootin and Manjaro ISO I remember that it is NOT possible to install it by using an USB.

Although the live part works flawlessy .. :)

Nonetheless my personal utils to make USB boot CDs ( in Windows ) are :
Rufus  https://rufus.akeo.ie
and for Multiboot system
