@elman: It is really a weird issue you have. What kind of graphic card do you use. Which driver?

I have nVidia GTX 970 and I'm using non-free drivers version 352.63

PHP 7 upgrade failed. Many extensions are still compiled with old API despite their version is bumped to 7.X. I have to downgrade for now,

Everything went nice and smooth.  :)
Using the terminal is like installing a hand crank on a modern car and using that hand crank to start the car instead of using the electric starter.

Hi. I have an all-time problem with Manjaro (I use it from june 2015): the video quality. I have a nVidia Optimus card (intel/nVidia), and Manjaro installs by default the bumblebee driver. I am not satisfyied by this default setting. I like a lot the sound rendering, the interface and the speed of Manjaro OS, and if the video rendering would be of the same quality as in Ubuntu, who has the intel driver as default, I would be totally satisfied by Manjaro.
I've tried to install another video card drivers, in the past, but I couldn't do it - my OS was broken after reboot. Maybe somebody could change some things about video drivers, on the next OS updates.
I hope that I'm not too much off topic. Thanks.

@criptoriga: what is the exact problem with your video quality. Give me some examples, screenshots. Which other drivers did you tried so far?

No problems in XFCE.

However, when booted into budgie-desktop, I cannot logout or shut down or reboot using the on/off button in the raven notification centre on the right.  In my installation of Solus itself, a little dialogue window will appear if you click on the on/off button with the choice to logout, shut down or reboot.  Here, no dialogue window appears and nothing seems to happen.  Budgie doesn't hang in the sense that I can continue to open programs and do work after that, so it seems that the on/off button just doesn't do anything.

I can reboot from the terminal.

I noticed this issue in the last update, when the raven side panel was first introduced into the budgie package.  I installed gnome-session and could continue to log into budgie, but the on/off button no longer worked.  I waited to see if the next budgie update would fix things, because for me budgie on Manjaro is just a fun experiment, but it hasn't.

True.

I see a patch for this has been pulled last week, so it should be released soon.

Sorry, I didn't keep a check on the topic (I was sure that I set my account to receive notifications for the replies).
My problem is not a big one, and if Manjaro would be the only linux os, I would be pretty happy with it. But in the Ubuntu and Ubuntu derivatives (like Mint and Zorin, not all) the image is clearly better. So, the exact problem is that there are small, fluctuating lines - more like horizontal distorsions. I have to look for a few seconds to catch them, but they also prevent me to really have an "immersive" movie experience - from time to time I get distracted by them. I cannot catch them in screenshots. In a static image there are no distorsions; they appear only in motion.
I am afraid to test another driver after breaking my system a month ago, after uninstalling bumblebee and installing video-intel and video-nvidia. Could you explain to me, please, how to change the driver safely?
PS Manjaro is faster than Ubuntu and better in sound rendering (I wonder why), it would be terrific to have an all-in-one distro.

All OK with updates in OpenRC.

Thanks.
