I'm happy to announce our second update of Manjaro 15.12 (Capella)!

Packages of the new major version of PHP have been released into all our repositories. Besides the new PHP 7 features there are the following packaging changes. In general the package configuration is now closer to what was intended by the PHP project. Also refer to the PHP 7 migration guide for upstream improvements.

Removed packages
  • php-pear
  • php-mssql
  • php-ldap:   The module is now included in the php package
  • php-mongo:  The new php-mongodb might provide an alternative even though it is not a compatible drop-in replacement
  • php-xcache: Consider using the included OPcache and optionally APCu for user data cache
  • graphviz:   The PHP bindings had to be removed
New packages
  • php-apcu-bc: Install and enable this module if the apc_* functions are needed
  • php-mongodb
Configuration changes
  • open_basedir is no longer set by default
  • openssl, phar and posix extensions are now built in
  • php-fpm does no longer provide a logrotate configuration. Instead syslog/journald is used by default
  • php-fpm's service file does no longer set PrivateTmp=true
  • The configuration and module of php-apache have been renamed to php7_module.conf and libphp7.so
Beside the PHP 7 changes we also added some fixes to Plasma 5 OpenRC, Deepin, Budgie and Bumblebee. Some additional fixes went into our graphical installers.

We fixed a bug in grub, updated the kernel to 4.4-rc8, added some new haskell packages and python packages plus renewed the linux firmware.

Archlinux upstream fixes are now from: Tue Jan 5 09:22:24 CET 2016.

It is always good to check for updated packages, even we don't notify you about them. As usual people using our testing branch will help us to get snaps over to our stable branch almost smoothly. For notifications on daily bases please take a look at our mailing list.

Kind regards,
Philip Müller and the Manjaro Development Team

Hi,

I'm wondering why I'm not seeing this update on my system. Have updated my mirrors twice, but still it says "there is nothing to do". Any ideas?

Thanks for your help

Everything works fine here. I just had to wait longer than expected for wine to start some games, but I suppose this is due to the update of wine-staging.

Yes I sure had to wait..
I Booted and that Intel firmware Bios flash screen stayed "forever". Hitting Del to run Bios setup did not respond.
Several Ctrl+Alt+Del later it finally booted.

When I try to enter Openbox X seems to fail after 10 sec or something so I have to use Xfce (I'll dive into that later).
So everything looks fairly good now.

The focus is more on PHP7, but not all of you use it ...

I use php but some time ago everything went "blank" as in non of my scripts show. It must be a config error somewhere but I can't find it so I guess I will have to delete the lamp server and start from scratch.
(I have it working on pure Arch boxes, Debian and Centos - but one small config error is like a needle in a haystack)

Owncloud server is no longer working after this update. Given that there are changes with PHP I would assume it caused the problem. After consulting https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Apache_HTTP_Server#PHP all that is needed to get it working again is changing some of the values in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

Specifically:

To enable PHP, add these lines to /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:

Place this in the LoadModule list anywhere after LoadModule dir_module modules/mod_dir.so:

Code: [Select]
LoadModule php7_module modules/libphp7.so
Place this at the end of the Include list:

Code: [Select]
Include conf/extra/php7_module.conf
Then Restart httpd.service using systemd
