Dunno if anyone else has this problem--and there is no way to Google it--all Budgie knowledge resides here or @ Solus...

The darn panel indicator icons in the upper RH corner tend to reset themselves back to an arrangement they like, rather than how I arrange them. Re-arranging works, but doesn't survive a logout/reboot. It's a minor, niggling thing, and I'm sure at some point Ikey will do something about it.

Does this behavior happen to other Budgie adopters?

In the meantime, it is an irritant and a stern glare does not seem to threaten them much...

Regards.
c00ter for me the budgie-panel tweak work.. the modification remain at the restart but in opposite yes .. the wifi icon appear random  :(

Running solely Budgie on top of an Arch base, and with Plank running, my Intel/Intel/Intel 64-bit machine idles @ 245 MB RAM. Plank consumes 14 MB. So that's 231 MB @ idle. If you added in stuff like MSM & Pamac notifiers, that would pull it upwards of 300 MB.

Obviously, if the user installs Budgie & its runtimes ontop of another Desktop Environment, but does nothing about stopping unneeded runtime services from the other DE, RAM consumption will be higher than necessary if there were only Budge DE. Of course, there could cause arise problems when restartiing the other DE...

Excellent reason to run only one DE per machine?

Gnome-session-properties is a handy GUI-fied AUR tool for monitoring/selecting such stuff...

I tried Budgie 16.01 on usn stick. I didn't have enough time to test, so only very few remarks. I liked the previous design a bit more, it was more like cute. ^-^
With the previous version I was able to place the panel vertically on the left side; with this version - only top or bottom seem to be possible.
It seems to be quite responsive and economic on ressources. I would probably intall it to my SSD, but it is difficult for me because I don't have any experience with Gnome Tweak and stuff. :(

I got screen corruption as I was about to set up user. I was able to set up the user blindly wit CLI installer but the root password becam an unknown string. Also the install didn't get to a successful end. I was able to log in into the installed system, but the terminal didn't start and I don't know what else is broken. :(
It would be nice to have a cheat code to boot with AccelMethod UXA.

Installed this version on bare metal, and the keyboard shortcuts work. 8)

The memory resources are not bad as htop reports 390MB.
What doesn't work is starting a VPN.
Was able to set things up but the VPN-Activate switch switches immediately off (when moved to on).
Looked for missing libs, but the needed stuff seems to be there.

Raven reminds me a little bit of the deepin control center, just a little bit...

That's because one of the Solus forum posters mentioned the Deepin control panel and posted a screenshot of it. Ikey thought that was a cool idea, and so you now have the Raven control panel.

Ya gotta love open-sauce! :D

You have this problem ?
https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=15120.msg234211#msg234211

you , at boot , can edit the grub entry for budgie and delete the "quiet splash" word and type "3" after you continue boot in text mode and no start X ..

Exactly! And you gave me a good idea, it makes sense, I will try it.

startx just brought me to a completely black screen with the Manjaro Welcome window. So what is the actual command to start Budgie desktop?

Thank you for this info.

I somewhat like Budgie even though some things are still missing.
Tiling windows would be nice... I'm always going back to i3.

Maybe Ikey will push more control-center stuff into Raven (as applets).

BTW: my mind tells me a deepin-like control-center would fit i3 as well.

Stefano, does the whole thing with editing /etc/X11/intel.conf really work on a live CD?
I was trying this command but got nothing. Then with startx again I get into X only. On live CD.
Thanks for the answer!
