[menda] theme rebase, need help ...
« on: 16. December 2015, 13:25:42 »
Hi community,

seems it is time to rebase our Menda theme once more. Gtk 3.18 introduced some defects into the current one. I already started to fork the new Arc-Theme. Now we have to recolour it ...

Any experts here with inkscape and gtk theming? Source can been found here: https://github.com/manjaro/artwork-menda/tree/devel

Most of the work would be to replace the cyan-based colours with some more in the direction of magenta. Arc-Theme is using assets, so a simply SVG file needs to been ediited and after that you execute a bash-script to render your new assets. Some CSS files need new colour IDs plus some PNGs some love. The theme supports Normal, Dark and Darker as variants. Still didn't figured out how to change the colour scheme with inkscape. Maybe I'm missing some plugin or libriary as the options simply don't work ...

You can either fork the git repository of Menda or ask me to get added to our Artwork-Team to work directly on the source.

Yep, but what to do ...

Well you could try to get GTK 3.18.2-1 which apparently fixes most issues

Well, it is more about the theme. It was designed for gtk 3.14 and updated to work with gtk 3.16. Newer themes are working fine with 3.18. It is simply that gtk changes over time and you have to adopt these. Either you find a theme which fits your vision or you find one but it doesn't fit your colours. Simply like that ...

How about Maia, is that an option?

Nvm, I see you use that already.

Not that you are looking for options but I find Numix-OS works nice with XFCE... Moka icons.... and Menda-Dark Window borders

@lastrodamo: yes why not. Artwork doesn't please everybody the same way. Everybody has his own taste. There are lot themes out there in blue but not so much in green. With time I might even learn it ... So if you want to do artwork for Manjaro, you're more than welcome.

Seems I found a fix for the current issue. However, if somebody wants to adopt the new Arc-Theme into green, feel free ...

Arc adapted to greenish style would be a great choice to base Menda on, I already use gtk-theme-arc-git from AUR on Gnome.

well if menda is fixed maybe ringos theme should be its own theme with its own name.
Something like Mountain or Millenium or something, keep it m themed though :D
