I don't like to see plank in the desktop, i think you should removed it.
Waiting to test the iso, keep up the good work. :)

Do you think a panel on the bottom and a dock on the left (where it could easily be removed by the user)  would be better?

My personal preference--based on the Solus Project's design principle is no dock at all. Why? Two reasons, both from the Budgie website:

Designed with the modern user in mind, it focuses on simplicity and elegance.

I like the simplicity part. And:

Also note that Budgie can now emulate the look and feel of the GNOME 2 desktop, optionally, via a setting in the panel preferences.

So the user already has some options built-in. The user can always add a dock of their own choosing post-installation. Maybe even a Budgie dock? ;)

Regards.

No dock at all, i prefer simple also. Budgie last time i checked have a panel. And the menu for launching apps, is prety and simple.
Thats just my opinion. :)

Why would you want to use plank you can dock your favourite applications on the panel simple,

That was my idea, too. The dock would be easy to remove there.

@Lt__Gruber, mandog: I don't use a dock either, but I'm aware of its aestetic qualities and popularity. I wouldn't waste the chance to win some user with it.

Yesterday after the Manaro Update it happened the same, login in automatic and i see only the mouse pointer but nothing else...
I switching to tty2 and text login, after i resolve this problem with AUR with budgie-desktop-git, it will replace the budgie-desktop from repo Community and after restart everything is ok...i thing this is a little bug with budgie-desktop and Gnome 3.18...

Ps i use budgie desktop every day on my laptop from the Budgie-Manjaro Rc2 and i have only this little problem, nothing else...everything is always smooth...

I remember that Pantheon had the issue that on first boot you needed to select the correct session in the login greeter.
