Looks like we have a happy new manjaro fluxbox user here ;D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGLtOtP1PU0

That was beautiful!   :'(   :'(   :'(  ;D   ;D   ;D

And I have to say, the past couple of weeks I've been reflecting on how much I've grown to love Linux.  Like the author of the video, that started with Crunchbang for me as well.  Two years I've been using Manjaro, and while I think the time is approaching that I will try to install Arch on my own, it will only be for the experience, not to switch.  Manjaro is the best!   ;D

I went from Ubuntu to OpenSuse to Crunchbang -- and let me tell you, I didn't think it could get any better.  I knew right away that I wouldn't be going anywhere else for a long while.  Here we are on my two-year anniversary!   ;D

LOVE that video!   8)

How do you change fluxbox themes, fonts etc?    Most fluxbox distros, antiX, etc have dozens of themes to choose from.

gtk-themes and icons can be set with lxappearance (in the menu under Configuration>Appearance)
To change the fluxbox-theme (defining window-borders, fonts and much more) you'll have to edit ~/.fluxbox/init There is an entry session.styleFile
The whole bunch of default fluxbox themes is in /usr/share/fluxbox/styles/
I just thought they were all not really convincing and for that reason created a new one, which is now called manjaro-flux ;)
The desktop font is set directly in the theme-file.

Just installed (my first experience with fluxbox), and I love it! I'll definitely be running this for the long-term. I'm not really a fan of the wbar (although it's beautiful) and wondered how I might disable it. Great release!

Great! I'm glad you like it! :)
wbar is started (together with all autostart applications) in ~/.fluxbox/startup
You can simply comment it out there.
What are you going to use instead? Just the menu and keyboard shortcuts?

Maybe you'd like to have a look here: https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=25944.0
In case you are going to use Synapse, please let us know if it works for you.
Also maybe dmenu is something you might like to consider ... :)

I actually had the same issue. Ended up just removing it and using stjerm :)

Seemed like the decoration would disappear if I restarted fluxbox.

I try to help, please don't shoot me if I'm wrong!

Yes, I was thinking of just going with menu and shortcuts, but I'm not sure... those icons are pretty sweet! While I've got your ear I'm going to jump topic just a bit. I installed xscreensaver, added it to /.fluxbox/startup, but find that it doesn't work consistently. (in fact it seems to work once, but then doesn't work until I enable it again. Sorry, but I'm a serious FluxBox noob!  ;)

Have you added it with a '&' at the end of the line? This is needed for an application to continue running after the first execution.
If it still does not work I'm afraid I cannot be very helpful as I have never used xscreensaver. But I'm sure you'll find a bunch of other people here with experience on this ...  8)

Hm, bad news! :(
This guy appears to be running Synapse without a problem... I wonder what it can be that causes the trouble for you.

edit: I have just installed Synapse here myself and everything works fine ... ???
Which version are you running, oleerik? Mine is openrc 64bit.

Can I ask what the benefit of stjerm is? Why not simply use the fluxbox 'Run program' feature?
The default keybindings include <Alt>+F2 for
Code: [Select]
fbrun -font cantarell-11
:)

The benefit??!
Quake-style drop down terminal of badassness. Nothing beats that!
And, I do believe stjerm really fits in with simple setups like fluxbox and openbox!

Also, I messed up. I mean lxterminal. lx terminal loses its decoration.
If my mind serves me right it only happened when I launched it from the wbar.

EDiT: Oooh, that's synapse. I prefer dmenu over that :)

Excellent job Oberon.  Fluxbox is a great and underated WM.  Reminds me of the good old days of early *nix.
