I am testing this. The first update after install does not work before these instructions are followed https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=18504.msg170671#msg170671

Gufw is in the menus but not installed. After gksudo the menu item did nothing. To get ufw working, easiest is to do
Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -S ufw-openrc

REDME contains mistaken instructions. There's no .config/pekwm directory. There's .pekwm

thank @mxx by the observations. the readme was wrong, the correct is: ~/.pekwm. to run the Gufw is necessary to run the firewall script, in: menu>system>script support>firewall. see the contents of the script:

Code: [Select]
#!/bin/bash
#
# Simple bash script to install the necessary software packages to
# enable firewal. Ufw service is then enabled and
# started.
#
# Written by Carl Duff (Adapted ManjaroPek Team)

# Information about this script for the user
echo "${title}Install and Enable Full Firewall${nrml}

This will install all the necessary software to enable firewall.

Press ${grnb}<enter>${nrml} to proceed. You may still cancel the process when prompted."

read
pacman -S gufw ufw ufw-openrc && rc-update add ufw default && sudo ufw enable
read -p $'\n'"Process Complete. Press ${grnb}<enter>${nrml} to continue"$'\n'
exit 0

Are your grub settings somewhere else than /etc/default/grub ? I want to make the grub not to show up and to make it countdown just one second to make it faster.

/boot/grub/grub.cfg

Thanks mt12345. That file tells me that my grub timeout is changed to what I want, but the boot behaviour still doesn't reflect that unfortunately.

Did you sudo update-grub after editing the config file?

Of course. Done it about twenty times now and rebooted each time too.

update-grub works nicely.. the only weird thing it says is
Code: [Select]
/run/lvm/lvmetad.socket: connect failed: No such file or directory
WARNING: Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to internal scanning.
But since I don't have an lvm install, I thought it's okay... Otherwise it says Found Found Found as usual.

you can quickly change timeout by editing /boot/grub/grub.conf (no update-grub, just reboot!)
but if you update/install kernel and you do update-grub, new file is created overwriting  your changes, reading the value from defaults - so it's better to edit  /etc/defaults/grub (and update-grub)

Is there a tutorial how to switch from Network Manager to WICD?

Network Manager has completely stopped working for me. In this release, I cannot connect to wifi properly, while I can to ethernet and usb modem, on another machine it's the other way round.

You could try the following:
Code: [Select]
pkill nm-applet
sudo rc-service networkmanager stop
sudo rc-update del networkmanager
sudo pacman -S wicd-openrc wicd-gtk
sudo rc-update add wicd
sudo rc-service wicd start
wicd-gtk --tray &

To remove networkmanager-openrc, you could remove all that depended on it (like networkmanager-dispatcher-ntpd), and then do
Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -S libnm-glibyou can remove libnm-glib afterwards.
