New config tool for Qt5
« on: 02. December 2014, 14:53:52 »
A (better) qtconfig tool seems to be coming to Qt5:

thx for this peace of information!

it is definitely worth keeping an eye on this tool, but at this point in time i do not see any feature, which is not available in lxqt-config, too.
lxqt-config is the "lxqt configuration center".

the current configuration tool setup in lxqt is not very user-friendly. i have the following config tools installed:
lxqt-config: lxqt configuration center for all lxqt and qt5 related settings
manjaro-settings-manager: for all manjaro related settings
lxappearance: for changing the theme/icons of the GTK+ window content style (which i have to select in lxqt-config)
obconf: for changing openbox settings, i.e. window borders

there is no theme switcher for qtcurve window content style available. qtcurve would be great to use (instead of GTK+ window content style), because gtk and qt (and kde) applications can use all the same theme and look "the same".

additionally, there are configuration tools for other applications, e.g. screen saver, etc.
this is the price we have to pay for a lightweight modular DE.

This new app (like the former and inferior qtconfig-qt4) can change theme, icon, font (like lxqt-config), but also (unlike lxqt-config) the colours as well. This is a great customisation tool filling a big hole of Qt5 which has abondoned its (inferior) qtconfig tool.

Please click "custom" and "changeā€¦" buttons to see what it can do.

Besides, this can be used without LXQt as well.

Haven't tried yet, but believe, the user is able to make custom colour schemes of his/her own, save them as 1-qt5ct.conf, 2-qt5ct.conf etc. and make one of them default putting it ~/.config/qt5ct/qt5ct.conf. The dev may implement this convenience in the app itself as well hopefully.

This is not only a theme, font, icon chooser, but also a colour scheme creater (and chooser).

thx for your clarification, qanjaro!

i like that it is based on qt5.4 (which is not even officially released yet).
let's see how this tool will develop in the future... and when an AUR package appears.

excalibur, and I'm grateful for your clarification as to its Qt5 dependency! Really haven't noticed it. I've got Qt5 5.3 in my unstable Manjaro and it works, but this may be the cause of failure in my first attempt at using it.

Ok, there is: http://www.archlike.darmowefora.pl/index.php/topic,154.msg340.html#new PKGBUILD and *.install files for this apps. You should copy both codes and put the first in PKGBUILD file, the second in qt5-configuration-tool.install file in some directory. Next, in those directory, just type:
Code: [Select]
makepkg -sircI hope it will be helpfull.

BTW: You may write comments (in those forum) in English, too.

Why not upload this to the AUR?

Why not upload this to the AUR?

try to compile it from source, it's very simple

I don't need it, I was just making a suggestion to ease the installation for others.
