Evince cannot scroll with mouse
« on: 25. November 2014, 09:00:18 »
Hi All,

I posted this in the applications sub forum a week or so ago, but didn't get any reply so I thought I'd ask again in here. My problem is that I cannot scroll with the mouse wheel in evince. I think the problem is related to Pekwm since I didn't have any problem in my openbox set up. Mouse wheel scrolling is working fine in all other programs. Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers! ;)

I can not test it at the moment, but
in the pekwm config files there is a mouse file:

$HOME/.pekwm/mouse

Thr Pekwm-Projekt page also offers dokumentation about the mouse file:
https://www.pekwm.org/files/pekwm/doc/0.1.17/html/config/keys_mouse.html

Hope that helps  ;)

Thanks for the suggestion, but I looked in that file and in the documentation and as far as I can tell there are no application specific settings contained within it. The settings there configure things like using scroll wheel to switch desktops, which works perfectly. It is only with evince that it's not working so its quite strange...

Hello Oli, gtk3 does not work very well with Pekwm, the suggestion that I take is the removal of Evince and use another application. I suggest xournal the official repository.

In AUR there are good applications running.

evince-gtk2
masterpdfeditor - (owner code)
flpsed

Okay, so I will look for another pdf viewer, I checked aur with yaourt -Ss evince and saw that there are quite a few variants of evince, but none of them seem to be well maintained, evince2, evince2-lite and evince-gtk all failed to build and I see others having similar problems... I tried flsped/xournal too, but while it seems like a good option for making annotations it doesn't offer so much in terms of usability while reading (at least not as good as evince). Last time I tried Okular I didn't like it at all, it is quite a beast from what I remember. Basically I want something with equivalent functionality as evince, since when the scroll wheel is working, evince is perfect.

I tested raktpdf, it seems good, but its a bit simple for me, it is lacking a fit to page width, doesn't seem to display an index and no continuous mode. I spend quite a bit of time reading .pdf so these features are kind of essential. But I found zathura, this seems to work quite well once you have memorized the relevant keyboard commands... :o

That printer doesn't require hplip-plugin however, To solve the problem, specify the IP address of the HP printer for hp-setup to locate the printer.????
