Can you explain what you're referring to when you say "7zip GUI" please?

Yes I do it's listed in the optional dependencies:
wxgtk2.8: GUI
desktop-file-utils: desktop entries

If you just want the menu entry gone from your menu, this will do it:
Code: [Select]
mkdir -p ~/.local/share/applications/
cp /usr/share/applications/7zFM.desktop ~/.local/share/applications/
echo "Hidden=Yes" >> ~/.local/share/applications/7zFM.desktop

To actually not have the 7-zip FM binary on your system you'd need to roll your own modified p7zip package.

@Rob
They could just install p7zip-standalone from the AUR instead of p7zip from extra.

There are also quite a few other options for p7zip in the AUR as well:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/?O=0&K=p7zip

Ooops, I misread the original question, my first post was advice on how to get the GUI to run.

NOPE

You answered correctly with post for AUR packages (as I don't want to include GUI, as it is basically useless and destruct attention overloading menu - but I searched for solution to not mess with meny entries).

Thanks for recording me to exist AUR also.

I was referring to my first post and not the second, but no biggie. :)

Anyway, think of the AUR as sort of what PPA's are to Ubuntu, only much easier to use.
If you can't find what your looking for in the repositories, then 10 to 1 it's in the AUR. :D
