Fonts ttf-droid-min or others for Lxqt Vanilla ?
« on: 24. November 2014, 15:34:10 »
Hi all,  :)

I discuss now with Excalibur to see what must be the default font for this DE ?

In this perspective, I created a new package called ttf-droid-min containing only :

Code: [Select]
-rw-r--r-- 1 pat users 194488 12.01.2013 00:29 DroidSans-Bold.ttf
-rw-r--r-- 1 pat users 119380 12.01.2013 00:29 DroidSansMono.ttf
-rw-r--r-- 1 pat users 190776 12.01.2013 00:29 DroidSans.ttf

May be bold is not absolutely necessary. This package must work for all DEs.

The size of this package is 208KB, 513KB installed.

Thoughts ?

This will shave some MB from the ISO but it also means that non-western glyphs will look bad (we recently added ttf-droid in other editions to fix this).

So I think it will be better with the full ttf-droid fonts.

I recommend Noto Sans.  It is much 'nicer' than droid (although droid is great).  Noto Sans is targeted by google for the global multiplatform 'use'.

The whole droid fonts are heavy, for a lot of unnecessary things. Will see...

Noto sans are very good, I use that for hexchat, but maybe not for all. Will see too, but they are things of google coming from infinality repo.
