[2014-07-23] New ISO Lxqt-Qt5 available for testing
« on: 23. July 2014, 14:45:39 »
Hi all,

IT's the same than THIS, except :

  • packages of Lxqt updated
  • fourth update-pack of Manjaro 0.8.10 included
  • qupzilla replaced by otter browser
  • kvirc replaced byt quassel-light
  • pavucontrol added
  • qastools added
  • vlc replaced by qmmp
  • ldm-git installed, but not activated
  • scripts pacmanfr-qt added (thanks Qanjaro)
  • 3 news wallpapers added (thanks Excalibut)
  • drag & drop issue about moving an item from the Menu to the taskbar solved
  • webkitgtk removed

It's more an update than a brand-new version.

I don't pushed the preceeding release to community, so the release in community is always the Qt4 one. It becomes urgent to replace it with a QT5 release.

Thanks by advance for your test, you will say me if it's stable enough for that or not.  :)

DOWNLOAD LINK

Known problems :

  • some windows (thus, pavucontrol) are ugly
  • impossible to preset the font'size of qterminal
  • icon of the start menu could be better

Note : for the moment, the 32 bits version is not done. I will work on it tomorrow, and it must be ready before the week-end.

32 bits done.

thanks for this updated iso.

i have just installed it (2014.0723) in virtualbox.
i have also installed the 2014.07 64bit version and updated it.

after an update and installation of the latest languages packages, i rebooted.
then, i cannot see the panel. i can click the icons on the panel, but i do not see the panel and/or the icons. i only see the wallpaper at the bottom of my screen. this happens with both versions (2014.07 and 2014.0723).

I do again the test now. If I boot a  VBox on my ISO, I get :

and I have the panel ??? Is your VBox broken ? Your PC allow virtualization ? How many RAM is allowed to the VBox ?

No idea...

when i boot the live cd, i get the same desktop as you do.

but when i install lxqt to the hard disk (inside of virtualbox), update my system (and language packs) and reboot, i have this desktop:

p.s.: as you can see, virtualisation is enabled in virtualbox and i have assigned 1536mb ram and 2 cpu cores. these are my default settings for all virtual installations in virtualbox.

i dont understand. Before uploading, I tried to install in VBox and directly on my disk.

I do that now and obtain :

There is no update to do : after installation, the language packs are suppressed (part of Thus).

md5 OK ?

Try without updating...

Only boot on the Live, and click on thus.

Hmmm, a try to do : in  a terminal, or with alt+F2, type lxqt-panel

It can be a problem of start speed and order.

If there is a lxqt-panel process available, kill it first.

i have just downloaded and installed the xfce 0.8.11 pre1 iso file and installed it in my virtualbox. it looks and runs fine.
this makes it unlikely that my virtualbox is broken.

at the moment i am installing lxqt 2014.0723 with the default settings. i have also re-downloaded the iso file. i report back when i know more...

edit: i am finished installing in virtualbox with all default settings during installation and my installation looks the same as before (without the panel, but i can click the invisible icons on the invisible panel).

killing the lxqt-panel and starting it manually works! after i have done this once, i can even see the panel after a reboot.

p.s.: i have attached a picture of my lxqt install after i have re-started the panel. after i have installed lxqt, i still have the default wallpaper (the colorful feathers). i hope you changed your wallpaper manually to have the manjaro-lxqt wallpaper.

Happy it works, but strange. Problem pending.

What's this bar at the left side ?

Which ? If it's the military one, it's a bit sad ?

(edit)

and a lot of icons are missing in the notification area : NM, Qasmixer, octopi, etc...

Happy it works, but strange. Problem pending.
a minute ago, i booted the virtualbox image of lxqt again. in this image, i have created a root and a separate user account. if i want to start lxqt-panel, i need root privileges (the panel is still missing notification icons, but the panel is visible). if i do not have root privileges, the panel is invisible.
maybe, this is the cause of the problem?.
after a reboot, i have to start lxqt-panel with root privileges again in order to have a visible panel.

What's this bar at the left side ?
this is my kde panel it has nothing to do with virtualbox or lxqt. the upper and lower panel/bar are from virtualbox. most likely, you have recognized them.

Which ? If it's the military one, it's a bit sad ?
this is your desktop directly after a fresh install in virtualbox (please correct me, if i am wrong):

my desktop directly after a fresh install in virtualbox is shown as attachment.

do you notice the different wallpapers? why are there different wallpapers?
our desktops are supposed to look identical.

and a lot of icons are missing in the notification area : NM, Qasmixer, octopi, etc...
you are right. this is strange.

i have checked the sha1 sum of my downloaded lxqt image file - it is correct!

Nope, I changed the wallpaper after installation to see this new one.  ;)

For the moment, by default, it's the bird. Maybe THIS can be interesting, I must try, don't know.

lxqt-qt5-0.8.10B is a very large download, at 1.1 GB; it is however very smooth with no errors or issues to report.

I did notice that by increasing the Panel size and icon size by one, made all icons the same size.

Hi schpankme,

Thanks for the test.

Yep, a lot of tools. Manjaro printer and all the non-free drivers included.Xfce is 1,2 Go.

But less RAM consumption, less disk space, and more speed.

Interesting, thanks. I will try.  ;)
