Giving Calamares the ability to install Grub2 via the EF02 - BIOS boot partition, would be beneficial.

I hope it will be written in C++ to avoid the Python initialization time, but it's a lot more difficult.

We are writing it in C++11. I'm also looking at options to allow Python scripting, but the framework itself is and will be C++11 with Qt.

Will it have an auto partition option as well?

Consider we just started a month ago. ;) As far as any specific feature is concerned, at this point all I can say is "there's no reason not to add it in the future".

Calamares is plugin-based and very modular by design: you can already change which pages and jobs are loaded and in which order simply by editing a config file. Once we get the infrastructure in place, it shouldn't be too hard for us (or for third parties even) to add the kind of features you are asking about and many more.

Calamares hit his first milestone. We have now 262 commits so far and closed over 19 issues so far. You can track our Roadmap if you like and you also find the latest testbuilds of Calamares in our unstable branch. We recommend to play with it in a Virtual Machine ;)

Video preview of Calamares installing a kf5 ISO from KaOS, successful install already on real hardware, an ATI system:
http://kaosx.us/media/cala_web.webm

All settings are fully modular, easy for every involved distro to adjust settings in packaging, even at this early stage, with no separate branding ready yet.

the calamares project is an incredibly active and productive project. so many distributions working towards one goal can unleash such a great project.
i am pretty sure calamares will become the universal installer at least for all arch-based dirstributions.

thanks for keeping us informed.
