Binary repos for Lxqt Qt5 available !
« on: 03. July 2014, 17:34:58 »
Hi all,

All the new packages resulting of the porting of Lxqt from Qt4 to Qt5, and a lot more (all the AUR packages intended for the future Manjaro Lxqt Qt5). 32 and 64 bits.

To use them, add at the end of you /etc/pacman.conf :

Code: [Select]
[repolxqt]
SigLevel = Optional TrustAll
Server = http://esclapion.free.fr/lxqt/$arch/repolxqt_qt5/

and do a :

Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -Syy

Note : for people having the current Lxqt Qt4 installed, don't use them to do an upgrade, the changes between Qt4 and Qt5 are too large.
(edit) see hereafter.

It is not possible to install QT5 above the LXQT 0.8.10 ISO?

How should we install a QT5 LXQT Manjaro?

But ISOs Lxqt-Qt5 will come. With a lot of chance, this week-end.
In the meantime I also tried an update in a VirtualBox without success : the LXQT session crashes immediately after login.

I will try john29's suggestion if I have enough time to test again this evening.

Otherwise I will just wait for the week-end.

Good job guys ! 8)

LXQT will soon replace LXDE on my old laptop used by the children... :)

Works here, with some annoyances- e.g. pcmanfm cannot set the desktop wallpaper.
Contents of ~/.config/pcmanfm-qt/lxqt/settings.conf

Code: [Select]
[Behavior]
ConfirmDelete=true
SingleClick=false
UseTrash=true

[Desktop]
BgColor=#00557f
FgColor=#ffffff
Font="Verdana,10,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0"
ShadowColor=#000000
ShowHidden=false
SortColumn=name
SortOrder=descending
Wallpaper=/home/panfren/wallpapers/Oia-Santorini-1050x1680.jpg
WallpaperMode=fit

[FolderView]
BigIconSize=36
Mode=icon
ShowHidden=false
SidePaneIconSize=24
SmallIconSize=24
SortColumn=name
SortOrder=descending
ThumbnailIconSize=128

[System]
Archiver=file-roller
FallbackIconThemeName=elementary
SIUnit=false
SuCommand=gksu %s
Terminal=konsole

[Thumbnail]
MaxThumbnailFileSize=4096
ShowThumbnails=true
ThumbnailLocalFilesOnly=true

[Volume]
AutoRun=true
MountOnStartup=true
MountRemovable=true

[Window]
AlwaysShowTabs=false
Height=480
ShowTabClose=true
SplitterPos=150
Width=640

But still, the background remains blank.

Hi,

No problem here. Maybe your wallpaper ? Try one of /usr/share/backgrounds.

How do you set it ? With a right click on the Desktop, Desktop preferences ?

My settings.conf :

Code: [Select]
[Behavior]
ConfirmDelete=true
SingleClick=false
UseTrash=true

[Desktop]
BgColor=#000000
FgColor=#ffffff
Font="Droid Sans,11,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0"
ShadowColor=#000000
ShowHidden=false
SortColumn=name
SortOrder=descending
Wallpaper=/usr/share/backgrounds/oiseaumouche.jpeg
WallpaperMode=stretch

[FolderView]
BigIconSize=48
Mode=icon
ShowHidden=false
SidePaneIconSize=24
SmallIconSize=24
SortColumn=name
SortOrder=descending
ThumbnailIconSize=128

[System]
Archiver=file-roller
FallbackIconThemeName=OSDark
SIUnit=false
SuCommand=gksu %s
Terminal=qterminal
TerminalDirCommand=qterminal
TerminalExecCommand=qterminal -e %s

[Thumbnail]
MaxThumbnailFileSize=4096
ShowThumbnails=true
ThumbnailLocalFilesOnly=true

[Volume]
AutoRun=true
MountOnStartup=true
MountRemovable=true

[Window]
AlwaysShowTabs=false
Height=480
ShowTabClose=true
SplitterPos=150
Width=640

I found out the reason of the problem.
It had picked the theme from the previous lxqt, namely qtcurve - and qtcurve has issues with qt5 (and yes, qtcurve-qt5 is installed). After switching theme, it works.

UPDATE: I was able to give the desktop qtcurve feel by switching the theme to GTK+ (with qtcurve-gtk installed, of course).

Nice.  :) I tried qtcurve, but with no success for a good result. It's a pity. May be I will give it a new try.  ::)

It interests me.  ;)

Another issue: Dropping icons from the menu to the quicklaunch does not work. Doing the same with pcmanfm from /usr/share/applications works.

Some more:
- No battery icon/ panel plugin. Worked fine on the qt4 version.
- Sound volume goes over 100%, despite checking the corresponding box in the configuration. It also does not detect if something is plugged on, or off at the speakers/headphones juack of my laptop. Running the session with kmix replacing the sound plugin works fine.
- Trouble mounting some types of optical disks, e.g. a data DVD (works fine under KDE).

EDIT: The battery issue resolved. For some reason, lxqt-powermanagement is not autostarted by default.
