@fredhoud try these commands in a terminal mate,

Code: [Select]
sudo pacman-mirrors -g
Then this one:
Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -Syyu
Hope this helps  ;D

Cheers,
darso.

I was able to update it, but now when I try to launch "Add/Remove Software", nothing happens. I even restarted the computer.  :-\

Hi fredhoud, I take it you are using Octopi since your desktop is KDE, my knowledge is limited mate so it may take someone else to help you with this but I would try running the pacman command again just to see, I think after a Manjaro system update there is usually more to do.
Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -Syu
Good luck buddy.
Cheers,
darso.

EDIT: Sorry for high jacking the thread guys, just trying to help.

Well, I tried again, and this time it seems to be updating everything, and still updating. My main distribution is also KDE, so I don't know much about this, but it seems a pretty snappy, and fast OS , specially for an older computer or a Netbook. Thanks for your input.

You're welcome, gonna go and write Fluxbox to a usb stick and give it a try to see what it's about.  Openbox was nice but way to minimalist for me but I want to have a wee look at Flux, if nothing else for the experience, thanks to the maintainer for all the hard work.

Cheers,
darso.

In a previous post, regarding Fluxbox 8.10, i noticed:
Quote
"The "only" thing that irks me is this window moving lagginess, everything else is picture-perfect.
I have tried it with and without free or non-free (nvidia) drivers, but it's the same thing, well actually the (non-free) nvidia-drivers do help a bit, but ...naa.
And yes, I have disabled "Opaque Window Moving" and it has helped, but now it also leaves what appears to be ray-tracing artifiacts, after the moving ?!"
...
Is this an inherent issue with FB, that it keeps redrawing the window during every movement or what? -and yes this has been going on for years with FB.
I have seen this in Openbox too, but not near as pronounced as Fluxbox.

Recently, even after a "pacman -Syyu" Fluxbox was still at version 1.3.6 ?
Ok well, I decided to install the new Fluxbox 1.3.7 release. I don't know if I did this correctly, but:
in the source directory of "fluxbox-1.3.7/"
Code: [Select]
./configure --prefix=/usr
make
sudo make install
The above was just to ensure everything installs/overwrites into "/usr/...", instead of "/usr/local/..."

Everything else was left as per "default" (Manjaro-Fluxbox-.8.10) installation. including the exact same desktop hardware as before.
... reset, and verified that "fluxbox -version" was indeed upgraded...
Afterwards, I noticed no more "window moving lagginess", and in fact, I now enable ""Opaque Window Moving" and it's very smooth and snappy.  It just feels more solid now.
So this defiinitely helped me. since my last observational post: (Aug.2014) https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=14467.msg147121#msg147121
But, I'll test it out on my (AMD/APU/GPU)-Laptop as well, just to make sure.

Thumbs up to this Fluxbox-1.3.7, they definitely fixed some outstanding bugs...
Any possibilities of a Manjaro Fluxbox 8.12 in the making  ?
:D

 USB mouse now freezing ?.

I guess I spoke too soon, cause now my USB mouse keeps freezing.
Every "reboot" the mouse is frozen, and I have to move it to another usb-port, and then it works again? It also feezes my other USB ports, and I cannot see my usb-hdd's ?
This is NOT fluxbox, there must be something else goin' on.
anyone else getting usb-mouse freezing issues.
time to search the threads i guess?

[UPDATE]: solved via this thread, removed laptopmodetools, install tlp

Hello all.  I recently installed Manjaro Fluxbox on a 7 year old mac mini. I am dual booting and use refit to choose either the mac or linux OS.

Here's my problem, despite the fact that installation was successful, and despite using refit to sync the partition tables, I can not access the linux partition.

In refit, is shows up as legacy OS and not has Linux. When I select  legacy OS  the screen just says operating system missing. Any ideas?

Anybody know if the author of Manjaro Fluxbox is still maintaining this distro?  It is really great!  I missed it because I've been very happy with Manjaro Openbox.  But it would be good to know if MFX is still working well with all of the updates (i.e., Fluxbox is now up from version 1.3.5 to 1.3.7) since June 2014.  There hasn't been a new version since then.

Thanks!

@lightbeam and others:
I think fluxbox is a great and awesome fast DE and I liked it a lot when I tried the 0.8.10 edition a while ago.
I have already written to kike to find out if he is still willing to maintain manjaro-fluxbox.
Meanwhile I am playing around with it a little bit and if there is interest and no new release to be expected from kike I'd love to come up with an up-to-date version  ^-^
Meanwhile I think it would be great in any case to collect your suggestions for improvement or features you would like to see included in a respin!
manjaro is addictive ::)

I came here looking for fluxbox also, and found this discussion. Just commenting to say that there is interest in fluxbox edition. I love the version 0.8.10, and would like to install on another machine. I was wondering if it would be easy to just install 0.8.10 and upgrade? Or will it break something if I upgrade from something that old.
