Hi Everyone,

I am investigating options for my Spanish speaking Landlord's old desktop with a Pentium 4 (2.66 GHz) CPU, 512MB RAM (400MHz) and a 40 GB Hard Drive (7200 RPM ATA 133 - IDE).

I am interested in this new LXQT version.

Without any optimisations what is the Memory Usage when the system is ready for use?

How much Hard Drive space does a Default install require?

What would be the approximate Boot Time for the above Hardware specifications?

Is this version of Manjaro suitable for beginners?

Is there a Spanish language pack?

Thanks, Michael

Hi,

With free -m, in VBox and in 32 bits, 142MB.

but I have a SSD, and a quad at 2,8 Ghz. I'm in Sata2.

But during installation, it can take more. I don't know if 512 MB are enough for that.

Spanish language, yes. For beginners, why not ? Is Manjaro suited for an absolute beginner, I dont know.

i am not sure, whether this is the right choice for a beginner.

if you will be around to answer questions in the future as well, i think it is ok.
please check out the openbox edition as well. i think it is even a little lighter.
if you really want to have a lightweight system, check out puppy linux.

if you will not be around to answer questions and fix the system (e.g. if an update breaks something - i think this happens more often in manjaro than debian stable), i would not recommend to install manjaro.  except, your landlord is a guy, who is curious and wants to learn new things. then, show him this forum.
