I suppose bad .iso. Try downloading new and burn according to Wiki. It really should work, I have tried on two different machines.

I'm beginning to think that it's user error.  I just downloaded a new iso and burned it using the instructions on the wiki. I can open applications with meta+d, and switch workspaces with meta+num.  However, it's always in the tabbed layout, and meta+e does not switch to the tiled layout.  I can, however, use meta+shit+space to make a window floating.  meta+enter opens up a borderless terminal in the middle of the screen.  pressing meta-shift-q only results in the letter q being typed.  Is this supposed to be the default behavior, and I'm just using i3 wrong?

anex, et al,

This is my revision of your i3 build, combined with Xfce.

Thank you

i3X peek

i3X desktop

My only obstacle is changing the style and size of the dmenu font.  The syntax below works and look correct, but the fonts stay as default.

i3 config file (v4)
# start dmenu for  launching System programs
bindsym $mod+mod1+space exec dmenu_run -i -p 'Manjaro System' -fn 'Comfortaa:bold:size=15' -nb '#222222' -nf '#7DA555' -sf '#222222' -sb '#7DA555'

# start j4-dmenu-desktop for lunching GUI programs
bindsym $mod+space exec --no-startup-id j4-dmenu-desktop --dmenu="dmenu -i -p 'Manjaro GUI' -fn 'Comfortaa:bold:size=15' -nb '#222222' -nf '#7DA555' -sf '#222222' -sb '#7DA555'"

I use the xfontsel utility from the xorg-xfontsel package to browse the X fonts and select/copy them.
My dmenu line looks like the following:
Code: [Select]
dmenu_run -fn "-*-helvetica-bold-r-*-*-*-100-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*"

I am currently running i3 under xfce settings and need to have a somewhat stable work enviroment. It seems to be really good, but I don't want to risk going for another installation. I was wondering if you could post how to get to that toolbar, since I would like to get my i3bar in those colors. So I could start to get a similar enviroment by rebuilding it step by step.

you could download the iso and run it in virtual box and copy the configs and modify them for you pretty easily, import, import, import

@anex
It looks good mate, well done !

Unfortunately I can't try it , I think it's because of my graphic card GTX 750, the driver nvidia got some issues that it doesn't have with the 8.11 ISO's .
Could you please share your profile to ManjaroIso if it's possible of course or somewhere else if you'd like to, thank you .

@serbei
Your config seems good too, good job .

I get panic every time I land in vi

nano would be a panic-neutral option

i3 Status bar "can't read temp"
Note that Kernel updates newer than 3.14 change the "temp2_input" path.
To locate new path:  find /sys -name "temp*_input"

.i3status.conf
cpu_temperature 0 {
        format = "CPU: %degrees °C"
        # find /sys -name "temp*_input"
        # old path = "/sys/devices/platform/coretemp.0/temp2_input"
        path = "/sys/devices/platform/coretemp.0/hwmon/hwmon1/temp2_input"
}

Is there any plan to make a more recent iso? The one in there is kind of old.
