I was able to run the live version and install with the graphical installer just fine.

A minor problem I found was that it was difficult to see if checkboxes were checked or not due to the color and shape of the checkmark.

It would take more space on the CD, but seamonkey uses a lot less memory than qupzilla.  The good news is that both worked.

I also noticed it was using about 170 mb of memory once x was up and running, which would be ok for someone with 1 gb, but not leave much room for applications on a 512 mb machine.

Yes, the problem has been reported. As this theme will become the official Manjaro, I think it will be fixed soon.

i just watched the latest linux action show. the biggest segment is about lxqt:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YQpwoxBAY8
(start watching at around 33:30 minutes)

this was a pleasant surprise. they somehow seem to understand that the future for lxqt looks bright.
i do not agree with everything they say (especially in other parts than the lxqt part), but it will definitely generate momentum for lxqt.
i hope this momentum will carry lxqt a long way into the future!

edit: i think, everybody has seen this manjaro blog post: http://manjaro.org/2014/05/09/spatry-shows-you-how-to-install-lxqt/

Installed dolphin on LXQT. Did not pull in much dependencies. Works fine (single click). Afterwords install konsole (for the heck of it), seems to pull in much much less (probably after dolphin).
Thought I'll let you know. Maybe.......k3b (loved this, won't use others)  and ....kdebase  :)

[edit] - But note the apps are all nested in System Tools.

At this time, is it possible to install lxqt from netinstall?
Noted the present lxqt comes with openbox; if I install from netinstall, must I install openbox?
What display manager should I use? Must it be kdm or can I use others?
I note there is no package named 'lxqt' or prefixed-lxqt. Is package available?

yes and no. You can follow THAT. For the moment, two of the modules are only on my PC, and I must write a metamodule to install the 25-30 others.

Almost 30' of compilation on my PC.

Okay. Will wait for you to do all the ground work.
After installing dolphin, okular, k3b, kate etc...and uninstalling lxterminal, pcmanfm, leafpad, etc...found that lxqt is quite modular (or rather kde/qt is quite modular). That's why lxqt has potential.

Cheers and thanks.

ps: still loved Manjaro's Openbox!

lxqt is not kde. The main problem is to have something complete without kde_base, etc...

If one day we have kwin on lxqt, it will be without kde_base.

ps:
understand kde5 will similarly be much modular.

Yes, I understand. Just saying kde will be more modular in future, no need to install kdebase (which I did not in the lxqt install, I was just kidding)
By installing even dolphin now, it did not pull in the dependencies. I was thinking it might, but it did'nt.

At this time, is it possible to install lxqt from netinstall?
if you want to install on a net install, do the following:
Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -S base-devel yaourt sddm openbox
yaourt -S lxqt-desktop-git --noconfirm
sudo systemctl enable sddm
reboot
now, you have to set sddm to use lxqt desktop as the default DE. you can also use another display manager if you want, choose one from here: https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php?title=Install_Display_Managers

edit: to install the net edition, do this: after the default login ( manjaro - manjaro ) of the live cd:
Code: [Select]
sudo setup
reboot
sudo pacman-mirrors -g
sudo pacman -Syyuu
sudo pacman -Syyuu
reboot

edit2: i recommend to install some very basic additional software:
Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -S lxterminal octopi

edit3: if you want to know how to get a wallpaper and other things you can do after a successful installation of lxqt, watch this video: http://manjaro.org/2014/05/09/spatry-shows-you-how-to-install-lxqt/

@Esclapion: have you tried to install lxqt using  yaourt -S lxqt-desktop-git ?

Ah, thanks. I searched lxqt-desktop. One task less.

(edit)

But some packages are missing. I hope the dependencies brings those.

Esclapion your doing a good job to get LXQT moving in right way,
you can use compiz or kwin or (kwin-standalone-git) Windows Manager without Kdebase-workspace
Razor-qt is dead, but a the moment it is better LXqt

Compiz is almost dead. kwin standalone doesn't work really good without kde-workspace. Some supplementary work is necessary to integrate kwibn in lxqt. But it interests some devs.

The team razor-qt is now working for lxqt, and the control center of lxqt come from them. What has for the moment razor-qt of more ? I did my screenshot with faenza for reasons of Manajro graphic, but with Oxygen it's at 90% the same.
