As above which makes it impossible to install any packages. Any ideas how to sort this?

Hi,

Are you on stable or unstable ?

You probably have an Internet problem : I do the try now, and it works perfectly. A firewall, proxy, something of that sort ?

How are you connected to the Net ?

I'm on stable, no proxy And firewall is not turned on. My internet speed is around 70 mbs so should get a half decent connection even from a laptop and I can browse the web from Firefox fine is just the mirrors that appear to be an issue . iv usually connect using wireless but have tried with an Ethernet cable but still get the same result!

Post what the errors says in the terminal.. that would give us a better idea of the issue you have.

are you putting this in as a command
Code: [Select]
pacman mirrors-g as that won't work

it should be
Code: [Select]
sudo pacman-mirrors -g

Iv'e just tried on a particularly weak signal in the back end of nowhere and its all OK

Thanks for all your help guys but got my problem solved, it was all to do with my nameservers in resolve.conf. changed them to the Google nameservers and now my mirrors sync as they should and my downloads fly!
