those are just the binaries. You'll start always a gui or tray-application. pacman is a cli-application you can add switches and additional cmds. pamac written into a terminal will simple open that application, similar to gedit and nano.

The current pamac-tray is a very first implementation and is more an example than a real app.
For now it only check updates when the app is launched so it's not very useful. That's why it was not annouced.
Developpement in progress..
Knowing that it exists is already a great news! Can we have any roadmap? Can we use bugs report for any feature request?
Why doing it yourself when manjaro-system can do it for you?

Atm I'm working on pamac-tray to make it checking updates periodically. When it will be done, pamac will have all the features I wanted when I decided to code it.
Then I think I will paused the developpement of new features and working on having a really stable and reliable app (For example, some more work has to be done to give more understandable information when errors occured).
After it will be time to have translation support and implement some requested features.

Guillaume Benoit, one of our Core-Developers, is currently working on pamac, our simpe pacman gui for Manjaro Linux.
He is using python, python-gobject, pyalpm and Gtk3 as dependencies.

Just a question, how come no one is using Lazarus and the Free Pascal Compiler to create utility apps for Manjaro?
Seems like it would be a ideal environment for creating a installer or package manager that would be easy to update with
minimal dependencies.  Lazarus even has a set of custom drawn widgets with all the basics that have no dependencies on QT or GTK etc and that would be a idea way to go.

Just wondering.

Really, stop this. We don't use Lazarus and Pascal because we don't like it.

Thanks for the heads up, guinux! Then I will wait until a better time to make a simple and helpful feature request. :)

I like to read such a pragmatic roadmap! Many thanks Guinux

As someone already said: "Yes We Can!"

Seriously, kalu may be still useful til pamac-tray is working well
