there is a choice. i prefer kalu as an notifier and  there is octopi-notifier too, both with aur-support. both are so much better than pamac,  why to stick with pamac i wonder? only cause it's manjaro-specific? pamac causes so much trouble in the past and still yet, so thanks to arnt for octopi, it's running like a charme. why not join and even make a better thing

i have tried octopi a couple of times and i do not like it. i am used to pamac. octopi feel slower. the design of octopi is (unnecessarily) complicated. the search function was really strange the last time i used octopi.
now i gave you some reasons, why i prefer pamac. you can think differently. it is good to have the choice after all!

it would be nice that some functions of octopi are integrated in pamac and concentrate the forces on the latter, abandoning the development of octopi. better one, but comprehensive and well done.

join forces?

if they want to, they can.
if they do not want to, they should not.

linux is about choice. if all linux people devs should join forces, manjaro and arch would be gone immediately.

i like choice. in the long run, it produces the best system and it makes linux exciting.

keep up the great work!

We already joined forces. Arnt is a Manjaro Developer as Guillaume was already. So we have both developers on the same team and yes they discuss and share their work. Both projects have different approaches. Pamac is a package manager using libalpm directly and Octopi is a frontend for pacman. You can share your ways but sharing code is much harder on these different concepts.

I doubt it - by design it calls a gksu, not gksudo.

The launcher installed by default launches the command "pamac-manager".
Changing it in order to launch the command "gksudo pamac-manager" does the job

You can also change the default behaviour of the privilege granting tool (\parameters\privileges granting")
Why doing it yourself when manjaro-system can do it for you?
