I opened a new topic for pamac 0.7.1 findings...
Why doing it yourself when manjaro-system can do it for you?

Like others here, I ran into a few issues after updating/upgrading. Among them pamac no longer worked.

I searched and found this link and then ran

sudo pacman -Sy pamac

And now it seems that things are working again....  :)

Yes it's a stupid bug, sorry. I will fix it. It's a display bug, it does not a affect your system.

Hello, this is what I wrote in the newbie forum, and Ringo thought it would be a good idea to post it here.
So I did...

Just wondering something:
lately it was almost impossible to get updates without any hickups, so I had to fix it manually.

Most of the time I got errors like:
Found proper advice on the fantastic forum, but being new to Manjaro (and pacman) I wonder:

Would it be possible to...
instead of just showing the error in a message window to have a second button that applies the fixes automatically?

I'm sure some fellas in this forum with Arch/Pacman experience might now think:
And I'm utterly sorry for my ignorance in this regard, but maybe it's possible to offer "FIX" buttons that apply fixes according to the error.

Example:
This error:
has this fix:
Code: [Select]
sudo rm -v /var/lib/pacman/db.lck
sudo pacman -Syu

Which worked 100% of the time for the error mentioned above.

This being said, I would like to recommend to add some "FIX" functions/buttons to Pamac.
It would ease the updates tremendously as (searching the forum) I'm not the only one that "can't help himself".

Also the fixes are almost the same (no matter what clashes happened) maybe 3 or 4 different fixes solve 90% of the problems.
Just thinking outside the box...

Thanks for reading.

Don't know how hard it would be to implement this...

@klaatu

There is such button in pacmanxg. I agree with you on having it in pamac.

i prefer also some option :) with installing how it handles also on removing.. Cascade can be user friendly but i like also more control...

if you remove something like a Theme, it can happend that Pamac will remove LXDM so or a option  to tells you which removal option you wanna use, or partly cascade, it give a list what you wanna remove if you put ok, but even on them you can uncheck if something in the list of removal  if its not on depency it will remove other not the unchecked think.. so bit of mixup, but not a full cascade... :)

Are the pamac developers planning on instituting a feature similar to kalu where it will tell you that there are updates from the aur? If I wanted to change the color of the pamac-tray icon how would I do that?

AUR support in pamac is not planned yet for stability reason.
All icnons used by pamac are in /usr/share/pamac/icons.

Pamac is wonderful, even if it still in alpha. May I give the team an idea? This pamac should have actual speed in KB/s when downloading.

Pamac uses your environment variables to find your language.
Do you have any trouble or just want to test another language ?

maybe you add an option menu to choose the languages also manually. Might be a nice feature. Auto select can be always standard.
