May I ask why kernel 3.11, which is stated to be eol at the kernel.org page is available in the poll, while kernel 3.12 which seems to be alive and kicking is not available?
J.
This does not answer my question: Why is 3.11 available in the poll, but 3.12 is not?
The answer is because the 3.11 kernel is being maintained by people who are not directly connected to kernel.org, so it can
not be used as a source of information relating to the 3.11 series kernel that is being offered by Manjaro.
The 3.11 kernel we offer is the one that Canonical maintains for their Ubuntu 13.10 release. (Just like our 3.8 kernel is the one Canonical maintains for their 12.04 LTS Ubuntu release)
Canonical's patchwork to this kernel is
not specific to Ubuntu. It addresses
general security and bugs.
The 3.12 kernel however
has not been picked up by any 3rd parties for maintenance, and as such is on it's way out.
Though the 3.13 kernel is a mess, so 3.12 may well see maintenance from kernel.org for longer than usual, which is probably why it's not been officially marked as "EOL" on kernel.org.
