Any hints on how to install it side-by-side with a currently installed Manjaro? I mean install the DE without doing a reinstall of the system.

You could 'yaourt -S i3-gaps' but it won't look exactly the same.

Thank you, @twodogsdave! Just uploaded updated ISOs including the latest stable update (2016-05-29) and added a clever little script to detect the proper battery ID for the status bar when you first login ;)
