Please test that instead!

It took us three months to prepare this first preview of our upcoming stable release we call Daniella.

The Xfce edition remains our flagship offering and has received the attention it deserves. Few can claim to offer such a polished, integrated and leading-edge Xfce experience. We ship Xfce 4.12 with this release of Manjaro. We mainly focused on polishing the user experience on the desktop and window manager, and on updating some components to take advantage of newly available technologies such as switching to a new theme called Maia, we already using for our KDE edition.

Our KDE edition continues to deliver this powerful, mature and feature-rich desktop environment with a unique look-and-feel, and with the perks of Manjaro's latest tools. We ship now Plasma 5.5 desktop in combination with the latest KDE-Apps 15.12. It was a huge step to get it all playing together smoothly and to give the user experience the same feeling as our KDE4 editions of the past.

Kernel 4.4 LTS is used for this release, such as the latest drivers available to date. Relative to the last installation media release, our tools have been improved and polished.

The Manjaro Settings Manager now provides an easy-to-use graphical interface for installing and removing the many series of kernels we offer. Manjaro's selection of readily available kernels remains the most extensive of all Linux distribution we know of. At the time of this 16.06-pre1 release, twelve kernel-series are available directly from our binary repositories, ranging from the mature & rock-solid 3.10 series to the latest 4.5 release. Such a wide array of available kernel options results in extensive hardware support, getting the most out of your system for you, be it old or new. We also created a kcm module to integrate Manjaro Settings Manager seamlessly into System-Settings of Plasma 5.

With Pamac 3.2 we have made our graphical package manager use the full power of Pacman/ALPM 5.0 release. The updater now support selecting which packages you want to install, transaction functions are now in a library, a custom download function for more control like a longer timeout for slow connection and a better download cancellation is now used, plus we now support the new hooks feature of Pacman.

So please test this release thru and thru and let us know what you think about this preview of Daniella.

We hope you enjoy this release.

Looking good, except for the dark icons on the panel like volume on a dark theme and Clipman just doesn't work. The network icon also seem out of place. I hope you guys can figure something out to make it work and fit together in the end.

Keep up the great work! :)

Also battery icon is old, accessories icon in whiskermenu is missing and + button for new tab in firefox is hidden because of black theme.

Yep, we have to work on our icons for XFCE. Most likely the theme is for Plasma5 as of now.

I checked the packages list file, it is maia-icon-theme 0.5.7-1 which is developed for KDE. But there is also maia-xfce-icon-theme 0.4.3-1, maybe a bit outdated, but I'm using it since I can remember. It is better structured for Xfce but also for LXDE and LXQt.
@blade, @M.aD you can maia-xfce-icon-theme and see if it works better.
@blade, just use forum search for "manjaro-*-settings". The version here is manjaro-xfce-settings 20160306-3

All you need to do is copy /etc/skel over your home directory after installing (updating) the settings package.

Yes, I can confirm that maia-xfce-icon-theme works better. Still black volume icon but network, battery and accessories icon fits our theme.

Thanks! The try icon size can be set in a right-click menu. You can try playing a bit with it and they could become light. Or it needs a logout/login to get them light.

@philm, it is also possible to repair the maia-icon-theme, I did it once on LXQt:

I took a closer look at Maia icon theme and tested different font sizes in the menu (richt-click the menu -> Configure "Applications menu").
* It has a problematic folder /usr/share/icons/maia/categories/start-menu-medium. If the overall font size in the menu is small enough (13px) icons for the menu are taken from here rather than from /usr/share/icons/maia/categories/start-menu.
* In /usr/share/icons/maia/categories/start-menu there is an icon applications-accessories.svg missing, create it by copying applications-utilities.svg with a name change. Then you get the cute scissors icon for Accessories.
* When font size is small (10px) the icon for Internet category is being taken from /usr/share/icons/maia/actions/16/applications-internet.svg which is badly visible on dark background. With font size >10px the icon is taken from /usr/share/icons/maia/apps/scalable/applications-internet.svg, but it is never taken from /usr/share/icons/maia/categories/start-menu/applications-internet.svg.
I didn't care to test whether it is the same for Xfce, because there was a maia-xfce-icon-theme.
But if you want, I can test it.

I don`t like new look. It is to... Heavy.

This green rectangular border around search field in Program Menu...
Light gray border around dark gray Program menu.

Square Window buttons with black rectangular borders in Vertex-Maia-Square are not look esthetically to (may be it is better to remove that borders, and make them circular when selected?).

Numix circle icon theme was prettier. But it is only my humble opinion.
Will you include old menda circle theme also?

p.s. I currently use Flatabulous theme.

I hope this version has better support for hybrid drivers intel / amd nonfree .
In other distributions like Ubuntu / mint is easy to automatically install the Radeon HD 8670M driver for notebooks.
The Manjaro distro I admire a lot, so missing this to be able to play well . I'm now using Ubuntu because it has the Catalyst and the games run well . In free drivers does not work , and some games not open. Please, I want to go back to the Manjaro but I will wait until have better compatibility with amd . Some of my acquaintances , also stopped using for this reason.
