How can I activate Compton for testing?

the limitation of auto type is known. A demand has been done to the dev, who did not know that.

For the theme, I take the official menda and vertex, what can I do ?

How can I activate Compton for testing?
go to your start menu --> settings --> lxqt settings --> lxqt session configuration --> autostart. enable "compton" there and relogin/reboot your system.

During the session you should also be able to start compton  from the terminal with
Code: [Select]
compton -b and stop it with
Code: [Select]
pkill compton - at least in xfce that works perfectly.
Like that you can easily switch it on and off for your experiments ;)

edit: This is also a good way to see the effects of your entries in your compton.conf without having to log out and in all the time... ::)

@Esclapion: Your work looks great. :)

A point that came to mind when I was reading your posts is that you don't have to limit the size of the Journal as it limits its own size automatically. It uses a percentage of the free space available on whatever partition it is assigned to, so as the free space diminishes so does the amount of space the Journal uses, which is pretty cool I think.

Personally I don't like systemd, & will eventually move over to OpenRC (the next time I have to do a reinstall - a long time away may it be...), but the Journal is a pretty awesome invention in many ways. Its only problem as I see it, is that it isn't written in plain text.

Congratulations! Its really beautiful!
I have just tried it in virtualbox a bit and I must say right away that I am completely inexperienced with lxqt. I like xfce very much and I do most things from the keyboard. So lxqt is probably not for me, but anyway if you are interested in my outsider's feedback, here you go: :)
- Installation on virtual-hdd went flawlessly, updating aswell :)
- arrived at the login screen I thought it would be great if that one could be a little customized to look more connected to that wonderful desktop inside ;) - btw, there is a session option for "KDE/openbox" (?) which brings me straight back to the login. Maybe that entry could be removed? I like it that there is a failsafe-option available! And also very nice that you can go for a walk in openbox 8)
- Inside I like the design a lot! The icons, the dark themes, really nice and appealing! :)
- In the menu there is an entry for lockscreen but that gives an error bc xscreensaver is not preinstalled. When you then install it you get a lockscreen with a quite out of place random screensaver... I think it would be great if either the screensaver would be preinstalled with some kind of a corresponding screensaver configuration or the menu-entry deleted? Is there no way to go back to that other sddm lockscreen for that?
- during boot I get
Code: [Select]
failed to unlink ro_branch: Directory not empty
[   14.587660] intel_rapl: no valid rapl domains found in package 0
might be a virtualbox problem...?
- compton didn't want to work with the virtualbox-driver. It returns
Code: [Select]
pci id for fd 5: 80ee:beef, driver (null)
libGL error: core dri or dri2 extension not found
libGL error: failed to load driver: vboxvideo
But when I installed video-vesa (its fun to use mhwd inside the virtual machine! :D ) I was able to start it from the terminal. Didn't play around with it more, though...
- Its brilliant that mhdw-chroot is on the .ISO!! I love that application! :)
Thank you for considering my thoughts and again:
Hoooooray and cheers for your great work!

@schpankme: My mention of my dislike for systemd was pertaining to my appreciation of the Journal, as opposed to the plethora of log files that my systems used to run (these days I have 2 .log file titles in /var).

I will move over to OpenRC in the future, I'm giving the great work that the OpenRC team here does time to mature. That was not said to mean anything derogetory in any way shape or form. I'm just way past testing & dev' work these days, so I take the easy way out wherever I can. :)

comtpon -b activated it, but I think I don't need it...  ;D

KeepassX 2dev has no global auto type hotkey. So isn't usable at the moment.

Mouse / trackball speed and acceleration isn't saved correct and it seems slower with the new iso (identical set to 100 both).

Dual screen and DM settings work fine, but DM need a nice theme in the future.

smb mount via PCManFan works fine out of the box.

Is there a Qt5 replacement for gedit? Because I like syntax highlighting.
QTCreator sounds also interesting, but haven't found it with php / js / css plugin. Have to searching for to do some tests used as web developer ide ;)
At the moment I use Netbeans (java based) as IDE.
