if you want to install on a net install, do the following:
Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -S base-devel yaourt sddm openbox
yaourt -S lxqt-desktop-git --noconfirm
sudo systemctl enable sddm
reboot
now, you have to set sddm to use lxqt desktop as the default DE. you can also use another display manager if you want, choose one from here: https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php?title=Install_Display_Managers

edit: to install the net edition, do this: after the default login ( manjaro - manjaro ) of the live cd:
Code: [Select]
sudo setup
reboot
sudo pacman-mirrors -g
sudo pacman -Syyuu
sudo pacman -Syyuu
reboot

edit2: i recommend to install some very basic additional software:
Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -S lxterminal octopi

edit3: if you want to know how to get a wallpaper and other things you can do after a successful installation of lxqt, watch this video: http://manjaro.org/2014/05/09/spatry-shows-you-how-to-install-lxqt/

Anyone know if it is possible to build/compile PCMANFM-QT from AUR for another desktop other than LXQT?

I have Razor-QT that I wanted to install PCMANFM-QT for that but when I tried to install from AUR it failed, I am assuming because it is has been built for LXQT only in AUR.

It's possible.  I downloaded libqtxdg-git, liblxqt-git and pcmanfm-qt-git and built with make in that order.  Used makepkg -csi for the first two and makepkg -csir for the final.

If pcmanfm doesn't do it for you have a look at doublecmd-qt in community repo.  Doublecmd-qt needs udisks to be able to mount your other volumes.

Hi excalibur1234

Installing LXQT from net-edition :

Installation details here.
i do not understand the french text, but looking at the terminal commands it looks like you took my post as inspiration and added a lot of (for you) essential packages. nice work! your lxqt installation looks a lot more usable than mine. indeed, my installation suggestion of lxqt was VERY basic.

Esclapion should take a look at your link, maybe he can get some ideas from it.

It's what I had in the past, with the problems of theme. 2 modules are probably missing.

Hi!

Just a quick question since I checked out the ISO already (which works great, btw): How do I fix the polkit issue in order to enable to user to connect to the wireless network (in live mode and also after installing)? Has this been fixed yet or how can I fix it at least for the installed system?

Thanks!  ;)

Hi,

normally, it's only when autologin is enabled that the problem appears. If you don"t use it, it must work.

Unfortunately I need to have autologin enabled since it will be an installation for my old man on an old laptop and the less he needs to operate besides from checking eMails and searching things on the internet the better. So I am highly interested to keep it simple as possible...  ;D ;)

Hi,

If you are in RJ45, directly connected, no problem. If you are in wifi, configure it without, and after only activate autologin.

For the moment, all the display managers work bad in autologin, it's known. I tried yesterday at end slim, problem also.

if you use sddm as your login manager, you have 2 possible ways of enabling autologin:

- wait for manjaro 0.8.10. Esclapion has already requested to change manjaro's installer "thus". the new "thus" version will be able to enable autologin for sddm during the installation as well.
look here: https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=13059.0

- edit this file as root: /etc/sddm.conf
add the line (or edit it):
Code: [Select]
AutoUser=xxxx
instead of xxxx write the name (case sensitive) of the user, which you want to autologin.
look at this post: https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=12279.msg111112#msg111112

Yeah, that theme is a port from Plasma Next to LXQT. We have already talked with the KDE Visual Design team and they have no problems with the port. My job there is just the porting, and some tweaks.

Before this weekend this themes should be in the Github repo.
