For the icons, it's relatively easy to do. I already changed some.

Vertical panel ?

Still has a lot of that inherent Razor ugliness and they need to ditch the pizza cutter already:) CLI installer does not work in VirtualBox either.  Graphical installer does work.  I may try it again on my test partition.

System icons are staying set just PCManFM losing them.

Changing icons was a little weird but I think that's just the way it is at the moment.  Specifically changing icons only affects the system and you have to go into PCManFM and set what icons it uses there.  On the plus side I guess that means you can use different icons for your system and PCManFM?

Also PCManFM is set to use xterm by default.

As others have said a browser might be nice.  Just use Qupzilla to stay with the QT theme or Midori I suppose.
I noticed lxtask hasn't been converted yet but why exclude the gtk version when you have file-roller?

Anything specific you want tested or feedback on?

No, thanks for the comments.  :) xterm is not installed for the moment, it's too awfull.

I must only change it in the settings.  I'm not really convinced by qterminal. I have no idea of how to restore the icons from one login to the following. Its good for the menu, but for pcmanfm, I dont know.

The openbox windows is also ugly, a bit old-fashioned. If I find a new good Openbox theme, it will be a progress.

If I do a new upload, I will maybe include the proprietary drivers and qupzilla,  but it will be slower, and I have an upload speed of 100 Kb/s only.

Hello, I'm pcman, one of the developers of LXQt.
Really thank you for your interests in the project.
Here are some suggestions.
  • Please make sure that you use the latest code in git. Really sorry that we don't have a release yet. We'll have one when it's stable enough. User feedback is very important to make it better.
  • For pcmanfm-qt, it should read the icon theme config from LxQt system directly and does not require manual selection. If you see that option for selecting an icon theme, there must be something wrong in the system settings. Also make sure that you installed lxqt-qt-plugins, which applies the lxqt settings to all Qt-based apps.
  • Use oxygen icon theme will give the best results at the moment. We use many icons listed in the freedesktop.org icon naming spec.
  • For a task manager, I'd recommend qps, which is quite light and powerful.
  • Qterminal is good but it still requires some polishing. Any suggestions are welcomed. One of our members is maintaining qterminal now.
  • For a good Qt style, using Cleanlook yields a lower memory usage and a more gtk+-like look. The default style of Qt5 which is named "fusion" is also nice. Someone has ported it to Qt4 as fusion-qt4 project.
  • To change openbox themes, use obconf-qt to configure it.
Most of the desktop settings can be found in lxqt-config.
Let's make the merged project of lxde and razor-qt better.
Thanks a lot!

If you have any questions or need any help, please post to our mailing lists.
https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/lxde-list
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/razor-qt

Though the projects are merged, the mailing lists are not unified yet.
So currently we're doing cross-posting sometimes.
In the future we should have a common mailing list.

Hi PCMan,  :)

I am really happy to see you here, welcome.

A lot of interesting things in your message. I continue my work on a ISO on my side. I dont like a lot oxygen (too common), but if they work right, why not for the moment ?

As say on lxde-list, the problem of pcmanfm-qt is solved, thanks a lot (a module missing in my part  :().

For Qterminal, I see 2 problems : one who is very disturbing is that we dont have the path in the title (unlike xfce4-terminal or lxterminal). Another funny problem is that when I will split the window horizontally, it splits vertically, and vice-versa.  ;D

For the question of theme,  I thought to mediterranean theme, something dark. I dont like a lot the blue of clearlook. For the moment, Onyx seems not bad ?

The main problem for the appearance is that the inner part of the windows don't follow the theme. I dont know how (where) to change it, and I did a lot of tries -> ? For example, I find that nice :

but not that :

Under xfce, you can change it in Appearance -> style. Without, the windows have a bad look, I think.

I use obconf-git.

For a task manager, I'd recommend qps, which is quite light and powerful.
Ok, I will try, thanks.

I have time to do as many tries as you want, I begin to have tools to do real ISOs.  ;)

For the moment, I have a  blocking problem in lxinput-qt-git (probably your side, a pt_BR translation bad), and I must see to do a PKGBUILD for compton, but I'm not a specialist. So, if somebody has one.... ;)

Vertical panel ?

when you right click on the panel and choose "panel properties, a settings window opens. in there, you can choose the position of the panel (top, bottom, left side, right side).
when you put the panel to the right or left side, you get a vertical panel, but it looks really ugly and is far too wide. there is no option to decrease the width. i hope this will change until the final release of lxqt...
there is nothing you can do.

Hi simgin,  :)

a next 32 bits is coming this week, with one or two modules Lxde-Qt more. And the Nvidia drivers.

Re,

Install manually (by yaourt) lxqt-qtplugin-git for have the icons remaining after reboot (thanks to PCMan).

And may be Oxygens icons can have a better result, see above.

The windows are always still not really nice, but oxygen is better adapted :

@Escalpion : s/always/still

Although both words translate to "toujours" in French, one has to use "still" in English in negative sentences. Thanks for your work!
