Title: [lightdm] webkit greeters for manjaro
Post by: philm on 14. March 2013, 20:02:29
I uploaded lightdm-webkit with themes to Manjaro-Unstable.

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnEb1xKDPfs&feature=player_detailpage[/youtube]

Here is a short how-to:

Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -Sy lightdm-webkit-manjaro-themes
sudo systemctl enable lightdm.service -f

Edit followed files:

/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf:
Code: [Select]
[SeatDefaults]
greeter-session=lightdm-webkit-greeter
user-session=xfce

user-session might be xfce, kde, openbox, what-ever ... No session chooser is enabled yet.

/etc/lightdm/lightdm-webkit-greeter.conf:
Code: [Select]
[greeter]
background=/usr/share/backgrounds/manjaro.jpg
theme-name=Adwaita-Manjaro-dark
# set it to manjaro or manjarodock
webkit-theme=manjarodock
font-name=Source Sans Pro 10
xft-antialias=true
xft-dpi=96
xft-hintstyle=slight
xft-rgba=rgb

 User icons management

To change users icons, there are two options :

Create a .face file in the user’s home folder in which you put a jpg or png resource

Or

Create a resource named with the user’s login in /var/lib/AccountsService/icons/
Edit /var/lib/AccountsService/users/<userLogin> and add a property Icon targeting the icon resource you just created

Both greeters working well with 96×96 images.

It just synced on dacentec:

Code: [Select]
[phil@manjaro lightdm-webkit-greeter]$ pacman -Ss lightdm-webkit
addon-unstable/lightdm-webkit-greeter 0.1.2-6 [installed]
    A lightweight display manager
addon-unstable/lightdm-webkit-manjaro-themes 0.8.4.0314-1
Nice themes for Lightdm Webkit Greeter

You can change the background by changing the bg.jpg files in both themes ...

Hello philm

Installed this morning, it works very well.

To change the icon of the user, I put a file .face in the home. I tried with jpg and png.

Then what does it change ?

Hmm, it works with lightdm --test-mode just fine. Don't get it why it doesn't work for real ... Maybe todays update will bring the solution.

Can you better explain (in more detail) :
Quote
Create a resource named with the user’s login in /var/lib/AccountsService/icons/
Edit /var/lib/AccountsService/users/<userLogin> and add a property Icon targeting the icon resource you just created
Thank you  :D

I downloaded the image above, re-dimension it 96x96, put in my home under the name .face, but it does nothing.

I found a way to solve this issue. Take a look at this video:

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASJ_dleffoc[/youtube]

Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -S accountsservice
If you have the user xbmc simple create followed file:
/var/lib/AccountsService/users/xbmc
Code: [Select]
[User]
Icon=/usr/share/icons/Faenza/apps/96/xbmc.png

Check the folder /var/lib/AccountsService/users for your username and add the Icon= line to it.

Reminds me of this one:
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wz_y54aig-w[/youtube]
Used to have that installed, but their (standard) release model isn't my favourite.
Perhaps there's a way to combine Phil's and Esclapion's suggested theme? That would be great.

Yes, it is the same. I like the work of those filipinos.

....Indonesians?

I must say, though, that if Manjaro is to use LightDM (and from the great screenshots I can see of SDDM I think that it's not going to happen), I'm that bit more exited about the "Dock" theme.
:)
