Title: [SOLVED] Does the folder need overlay?
Post by: elav on 06. September 2015, 16:37:27
Hi guys. Given the very poor Internet connections in my country, in my workplace we have several local repositories of various distributions with the aim of brindárselos free to anyone who is interested in using Linux.

How could it be otherwise, one of these repositories is that of Manjaro, which synchronize using this command:

Code: [Select]
rsync -av --delete-after --progress --exclude='.*' --exclude='*staging*' --exclude='*testing*' --exclude='*unstable*' --exclude='iso' rsync://rsync.mirrorservice.org/repo.manjaro.org/repos/ /localmirror/
As a result folders are created two folders: pool and stable. Inside the folder pool there are two folders: sync and overlay. My question is .. the folder overlay is requires to enjoy the stable repositories Manjaro?

Thanks..

Pool holds the packages.
Stable has symlinks to the pool packages.

Sync holds the regular arch packages (I think)
Overlay holds the Manjaro specific packages and the packages that the manjaro team has corrected.

This is my understanding of it, if I am wrong, please correct me. :)
